AVO Valve Tester MK1 component ident and schematic help please

Hi i have obtained a MK1 AVO valve tester i want to get working,problem is it seems to be a very early one and cannot find the associated schematic for it,i think i have a selenium rectifier fitted but unsure.
Can Anyone help?

i would have said a very high ohms resistor mmm maybe not

Hi yes thanks that is the earlier version,

 i have the other MK1 lol,the scheme around show a tube used as a rectifier where as mine does not have it but does have the above item below the meter assy, which i cannot find in any pictures and it is factory it reads open as i would expect a rectifier to if it was selenium,
