Bench DMM Noise & Stability Comparisons with TestController

Josh can comment on this, but how much luck (if any) have you had with using batteries and hotplugging? I am still weary after what I think Josh did which was kill one of my rev1 units with hotplugging.

Hot-plugging wasn't the issue. The first unit wasn't labeled at all, so I connected the wrong side to power (ref output connected to PSU).

Hi,
It's not going to work today...
I did a quick test yesterday after setting it up, and the 10V was there.
I tried the same thing again a little while ago—no output voltage.
I didn't touch anything; everything was left just as it was yesterday—I just closed the circuit.
Then I opened up the reference—and smoke came billowing out at me...
The IC “U1” is fried....
I don't know the circuit diagram, but it seems to have something to do with the input.
What a bummer.

The test will continue; I set the internal jumper for the reference to 15Vext and then reset the reference.

I have already commented on the failure on my thread, have a read. A simple 2-component mod can help fix this, sorry that your unit was killed, but the 15V_EXT was added for a situation where the LDO wouldn't work properly.

So, a one-hour recording of the “Tyler Reference” is now in the can.
Due to a few setup issues, you can see a reference that has already gone through over an hour of warm-up.
From the moment I turned it on until it stabilized, I had a minor glitch in the TC setup, but I can say that stabilization takes about 15 minutes.
After that, I let it run for an hour—and then noticed that the DMM7510 was missing a decimal place... So I ran it for another hour.

Stabilisation time seems to match what I had more or less, was 14 - 16min when I conducted some tests.
