BW150 Electronic Load problem
« on: August 23, 2026, 04:04:30 am »
I'm posting this just FYI, in case someone else runs into this.

I recently bought one of these. So far, I like it. Just a bit ago, I tried to connect it to my PC and run the software. I used a known good USB-C to USB-C cable, but the BW150 was not seen in Device Manager (no connect tones either). I tried another known good cable - same.

Unlike earlier models, the BW150 enumerates as an HID device, not a serial port.

I have two USB-C ports on my laptop, one has PD in/out, which I normally use to power the laptop. The other is a Thunderbolt/USB-C port. This is the port that I normally use for everything that I need to plug in. I've never had any issues plugging in many different devices.

So, I tried the USB-C PD port. The BW150 was recognised, and the software worked fine.

Next, I tried an Anker USB hub. Again, the BW150 was seen when the hub was plugged into the PD port, but not the TB port. Then I powered the Anker hub via its PD input. Now the BW150 is seen on either laptop port.

Lastly, I tried a TB4 cable direct to the TB port. Still not seen. As I understand it, TB ports should be backwards compatible with USB-C. And as I stated, no other device has ever not been seen on the TB port.
