Dossena Multiver 3 SN - 3 Phase network analyser
« on: October 05, 2023, 10:18:19 pm »
At times this place gets a little boring with all the discussion about the latest Chinese toys so for a bit of a change, here's a piece of unknown to the forum, old school Italian kit.

I don't know much about it, it's a power network analyser that must have been very advanced in its day (CIRCA 1994).

It runs on a CHIPS XT+ SBC that loads the software from either an external floppy or in my case a PCMCIA flash card, the system menus are accessed trough the EL backlit LCD's touchscreen.

Each measurement function has contextual help, still if someone has documentation I'll be grateful.

Also can anyone recognise the model of the 3 pin plugs used for the current clamps ?

Teardown to come later...

Thanks, it doesn't seem to be mini XLR, this one has a flat portion in the barrel.

SQRT : DOMAIN error
floating point error : DOMAIN
dispositif non prêt durant la lecture...?
Le système serai sous DOS version ???
Je recherche un moyen de réinstaller le système complet, mais j'ignore quel DOS installé  :-//

G'day shakalnokturn,

My company used to sell those in Western Australia.

Very popular with Electricians and Electrical Engineers as there was nothing else around in their price range.

There were single phase models as well.

I see Dossena still exists......have you contacted them ?

G'day All,

Another company that made a similar product at the same time was Elcontrol.(attached)

They also produced a Single Phase Model MICROVIP-MK1.2

Hello,

Poroit: I haven't tried getting in touch with Dossena for documentation. Apparently Oliv_Bricol-2 did without success.
My mystery connector turned out to be made by Hypertronics.
That Microvip manual made me wonder if the use of "unbalanced" made any sense in a single phase context?

Oliv_Bricol-2: English is the preferred language around here.
I could image my flash card if I have all the required equipment and you can give me a method to follow. Last time I tried accessing PCMCIA on a laptop was a flop.

Hello  :-[
Oops SORRY.
I checked the automatic translation of the page, I thought that this would also take care of the writing.
The device does not boot, so I don't know how it works or the options.

for the PCMCIA card, there is the port on the front panel for I believe to save the data, my device indicates a reading fault on drive B??? and does not boot.  the DOS of the device seems corrupted to me given the error messages, and I don't know which version to look for and where to obtain it. I am waiting for a PCMCIA reader to understand the fault and find a troubleshooting solution.

Hello from DOSSENA SNC Italy,
unfortunately there is practically nothing left of these devices that is usable, even the designers of the time are gone.
I will look in the old backups if I find something useful.
Regards.

Hello elianto 8)
Would you be from DOSSENA?
I contacted DOSSENA to obtain the ATELIER manual, but as announced, nothing seems to exist anymore :-[
Do you know how the MULTIVER works, the DOS of the device seems to be out of order.
I'm looking to know the origin of DOS and its version, specific or not, but also how to install the software.

Bonjour elianto  8)

This is all I found for MV3SN in a pile of old CDROMs, it is a device produced from 1994 to 1996.
Since those years the factory has changed location and ownership, the staff has changed completely, I am in the production department, and the documentation of the old projects is lost.
About ATELIER nothing found.

Best Regards.

Hello everyone. The small connectors are FRB type D01 Hypertac series brands:

link : https://www.smithsinterconnect.com/getattachment/6364fc5a-3a5f-4454-9f13-2c4891158881/D-series_USLetter-2024-2-2-20-08-24.pdf

the device still does not boot   :--

Do you know who distributed these devices, perhaps they provide after-sales service and have technical documentation for the workshop?  without the diagrams, I think it is lost for re-commissioning.

Mine boots (at least last time I turned it on). If you tell me the prerequisites and method to dump the flash card and I have the necessary hardware available I'll give it a try...

Bonjour,
vous avez la carte FLASH du logiciel  :-+
C'est super, il faut avoir un lecteur autonome pour copier le contenu, les vieux ordi portables avait un lecteur, mais désormais, c'est tout USB.

Good morning,
you have the software FLASH card :-+
It's great, you have to have a standalone drive to copy the content, old laptops had a drive, but now it's all USB.  what is the memory capacity of the PCMCIA card?
