I would have thought you could get them much cheaper than that - I know there are RPM counters (tachometers) that are less expensive, but which probably don't have a trigger-on-count functionality.

Why not a basic TTL circuit or a micro?  A dollar or two in parts and you should be able to fully configure it, a 12 bit counter, a comparator on the input set to your signal level, and some and/not gates to select where to stop if you want it hardwired.  Also any old micro can do this in half a dozen lines of code, you just need a relay driver and whatever signal conditioning to get your input signal readable by a micro.

I knew it was going to be a bad idea to click on a subject that just says "Solved". :-BROKE

The whole thread should be deleted to prevent the time wasted playing "This is the answer, what was the question."

.  That took much longer than I thought it would.

Yeah editing the question and removing the actual question isn't the best idea. It pretty much ruins the point of a forum. :palm:

I dunno, it's kind of like Jeopardy, we get the answer and have to guess the question.  ;D

But I'd still prefer to see the actual question, it might help someone in the future with a similar issue! :box:

The original title "Ebay counters. Do You recommend one?" looked almost interesting, I should have clicked on it yesterday when it might have made sense. I still think the whole thread should be deleted, not just locked, because "testgear" has enough junk threads as it is.

It would certainly keep the random crap noise level down.
