Flir E4
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:54:19 am »
Hi guys, im in the market for a thermal imager and have been reading about the E4 hack etc. My question is, how does one check the firmware?

The distributors here in South Africa said that once I purchase the E4 I register it using the serial number and download the firmware for it? Not sure what that means, but my main question is, how do I check to see what version firmware a unit is running? Id just like to know how to identify a units firmware before purchasing so I can see if its hackable  >:D

Cheers

The only way is to turn on & look at the info screen.
Your distributor is probably assuming you want the latest version.....
Probably the best bet is to talk to the distributor and tell them that you will order only if they can supply a V1.22 or earlier FW version.  Unless they've had units in stock for quite a while chances are it will be a more recent version

Thanks Mike, will try that. Considering this is South Africa im praying that they have some older units in stock, thermal doesnt seem to have really taken off here. :)
