Fluke Fieldsense in 2026?
« on: July 17, 2026, 02:38:50 pm »
back in 2018

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/fluke-fieldsense-contactless-voltmeter/

it is now better? Worth to get one like the 378FC?

I expect not too much change, an antenna can't give you a "robust" volt measurement. Just drop me a line I am correct (or not).

Define "robust". A quick look at the brochure shows that FieldSense works up to 1000V with 1V resolution. The accuracy is dependent on the wire gauge too...

3% +- 5D (45 to 66Hz) for <= 4/0AWG

and

5% +- 5D (45 to 66Hz) for >= 4/0AWG

So accuracy is dependent in line frequency, and wire gauge. They also mention the importance of wire positionning in the jaw. Personally though? I would love to own one. It would be neat as a dedicated current clamp for when I work on the occasional panel and use this instead of an NCV detector. While the accuracy isn't super, this is geared towards industrial work and fractional digits won't matter for first approximations anyways. This does not replace a proper contact measurement, but reduces arc flash hazards and such.

However, people's actual experiences can vary... Interested to hear these.

Well it didn't do that when I tested it...

I've got the 378FC clamp meter and the T-1000 Voltage tester which both feature this function.
I have never had a reliable voltage measurement through Field Sense with both of these. I live in a 230V country, not sure if that would matter, but I get readings at least 20-30% off.
Buying 6-1/2 digit bench multimeters just to check if a regular nine-volt battery is still alive.

Thanks for the man in the field feedback. This is what I was looking for.
And thanks also because I can probably keep the money in the bank, but I am still thinking about it.

Are you just looking for a current clamp, and this one ended up having more bells and whistles? If so, I can reccomend my Fluke 376FC, I enjoy all the features it has, and use the wireless connection consistently.

Thanks I just got a 376FC with all accessories for good price on ebay.

No Fieldsense for me, sorry I pass.

Now I have to sell my old clamp meter (I believe it is the 375 need to double check) and my Brymen to compensate the loss....
Stay tuned on the Buy/Sell section.
