Gould 3150 analog oscilloscope - user manual (now found)
« on: February 13, 2013, 04:25:21 pm »
Hello, I found this nice Gould 3150 150MHz scope at school and tried it. The instrument works fine. I need the pdf user manual, a leaflet, or any other info. I could not find anything ot the internet...
Video here.

Photos, that i took: https://plus.google.com/photos/106264218831814439783/albums/5844454688694290849
Well, in fact the machine was produced by Hitachi in Japan. It might have been sold under different names than Gould 3150. Does anyone know this other name?

Well, as I expected, this scope was often sold as Hitachi V-1150. Here I found the service manual. http://elektrotanya.com/hitachi_v-1150_sm.pdf/download.html
And here is user manual. http://elektrotanya.com/hitachi_v-1150_operation_manual.pdf/download.html

Ooo, I have a one of those 1150s, it cost me about £1 per button which at the time was the only metric I was really interested in. In this respect it is second only to my Thandar DSA http://www.artisantg.com/TestMeasurement/68996/Thurlby_Thandar_DSA524_Digital_Storage_Adaptor :)

Being more realistic: 150MHz, 4 channels (-ish as only 1 & 2 have full functionality) a lovely screen and more functionality than the user interface can comfortably accommodate, I think it is a nice scope. Unfortunately mine only runs for about 10 minutes at a time but a quick power cycle and it's good for another 10 minutes. This leaves me with a big problem: do I continue to live with seeing the universe in 10 minute slices or do I risk trying to fix it and possibly kill it in the process? Maybe making a video of the repair attempt would make the risk worthwhile.

Anyway, it certainly is a whole lot of scope. Enjoy. :)

I know this is an old post, but it may help you if you haven't found a solution already.

I have one too, and it behaved just as you describe. I came across this thread which seems to be the solution.

Give IC2020 a poke with your finger near pin 15 and see if you can cause the problem. Mine would do it every time, I bridged 15 and 16 with some solder and haven't had a problem since.

Mine also had a problem with the channel 4 button, but that was able to be cleaned. Only problem left is the GND REF cursor, it jumps around randomly and I get "Fail 8" in the self test.
