Yes, it was due to an accidental overvoltage at the calibration input. Since I don't have the electrical schematic, and the board is multilayer, it's difficult to trace the tracks. But since I don't have the electrical schematic and haven't been able to get it, I'm kind of stuck.
The power supply and regulator voltages are within expected limits. All voltage markings on the silkscreen are correct. For those that aren't, I checked the regulator datasheets and they are also within nominal values.
I took a thermal image; there's a hot spot on the CPU enclosure. The ADC has a heatsink and it's hot, but within the limits of the datasheet.
I'm still trying to find an electrical schematic to get a definitive answer. This happened in December, and since then I've been looking for a solution. To keep the lab running, I bought a new Rigol DS1104Z-S, but I'd like to repair this Hantek.
If anyone in the group has the electrical schematic for the 4004B family, it would be very helpful.
I didn't find any new or used boards on eBay. I found a used piece of equipment in poor condition, but in conversation with the potential seller in Russia, he didn't... I would send the device...
I know it's not a cutting-edge piece of equipment, but it adequately meets my needs.
What saddens me is that Hantek hasn't even responded... it doesn't matter if they have the board to provide me or not, but at least give me an answer...
The minimum they could do would be to provide me with the files to reprogram the CPU, since replacing it isn't difficult... finding it isn't either, as several suppliers have "virgin" versions; it would just require replacing the processor and reprogramming the firmware...
I tried communicating via the device's USB port...
Now I'm exploring the possibility of communicating via JTAG, but again, no information is available... and the only possibility I saw on the PCB is that components are missing. I know it could be protection circuits or pull-up or pull-down switches, but I could create even more problems...
