Help please. Microscope camera - Amscope / Trinocular / HDMI
« on: December 21, 2020, 08:30:36 pm »
I have an Amscope trinocular microscope.  I bought one of Amscope's cameras a while after buying the camera and sent it back as it was absolutely rubbish.  Anyway I'm after another camera.  It doesn't need to be the best thing there is but I would at least like to be able to properly see the view on screen.

What do I actually need to buy to attach it to the amscope?  I am buying a HDMI capture card for something else so I would like a HDMI output on the camera if possible.

There are some cheap cameras like these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14MP-1080P-HDMI-USB-Industry-C-mount-Digital-Microscope-Video-Camera-8GB-TF-Card/142423399794?hash=item2129189d72:g:gaYAAOSw1~JZTMxJ

They state C MOUNT so do they attach to the adjustable tube on the amscope?

Do I need an additional lens such as with this one:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/38MP-1080P-Microscope-Industry-C-mount-HDMI-USB-Video-Camera-100-240V-100X-New/293375619045?hash=item444e8cafe5:g:AGsAAOSwPFBd8--E

I'm just using these as examples....

The Amscope I have is this one:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AmScope-7X-45X-Trinocular-Stereo-Zoom-Microscope-with-Double-Arm-Boom-Stand/143440071405?epid=14019458581&hash=item2165b1caed:g:r~8AAOSwHwldywoC

I'm at a loss to work out what I need to buy.  Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Is it worth getting this camera instead as it's not much more and 4K 60fps.....

Defpom just put this review up:

Back a bit in his vids there are other microscope vids if you hunt for them.

I use a Raspberry pi zero w + pi hq camera. The video quality is decent. Besides the hdmi output you can also stream video over usb or wifi.  You’d also need a c-mount adapter like this one https://www.amscope.com/0-5x-c-mount-reduction-lens-for-mu-series-cameras.html

Thanks.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the 1080P one linked above.  I am starting a YouTube channel and it would be helpful for certain things although not vital.

Well.......

I received the camera and the adapter today.  For anyone following this thread and doing the same you need the bottom part of the crappy adapter (bottom few millimetres) in order to attach the adapter to the scope. I am VERY happy with the quality and the output!  Brilliant, so much better than Amscope's offerings.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to post.  I am very happy.

Which camera did you choose? What are the test results?

I got the 1080P one that Paul Daniels advised.  The output is excellent and it has a memory card slot and HDMI output as well.
