HP 6205C not quite zero
« on: May 30, 2013, 06:29:53 pm »
I have a 6205C that won't quite reach 0v when wound down (reads about +20mv). The voltage control pot reads 0 ohms. The service manual says to shunt R6 or R8 with an appropriate value resistor to achieve 0V (after experimentation with a decade box) but I thought about replacing them with a series 330K and 470K and two 100K pots so that adjustments could be made in the future. Problems?

BTW, for some reason R6 is a beefy 1/2 watter, not sure why, maybe temp stability?  :-//

After poking R6 a little I noticed the voltage changed. I reflowed the joints and now its only a mv or 2 out so good enough for me. I guess the joint cracked maybe due to transport.  :-//
