Replying to the original second post, one can indeed make a 16717A card be recognized as a 16715A card, by removing one resistor to match the 16715A resistor pattern, as shown in the attached picture. However that doesn't do anything useful, as the card is so different hardware wise that the system reports an error when trying to initialize it at boot up. It doesn't show up in the frame config once booted up. However, going to the test session, it will show up in the frame recognized as a 16715A. But if you select it and try to test it, it will fail each and every individual test - the frame just can't talk to it properly. So it's pretty useless, it just makes a good 16171A card recognized as a 16715A that is utterly non functional. That also tells me that the 16715A is detected by the resistor pattern like all other cards, not by sensing the chips as was previously reported. Of course I put the resistor back in place, and it returned to being detected as a 16717A and passed all the tests.
