Issue with Fluke 902 Clamp Meter
« on: March 29, 2019, 07:11:35 pm »
Hello everyone ,

I have bought for a very cheap price a Clamp meter form fluke , the 902.

My issue is that it is stuck in Cal Mode (displaying CAL on startup)

In the battery compartement the cal sticker is broken.

Do you know how to unstuck this meter form CAL mode ?

Cheers From France !

The fluke 374/375/376 has 2 contacts behind a calibration sticker in the battery compartment that need to be shorted when the meter is turned on for it to go into the calibration mode.

I can’t find the cal manual for the 902 that says how to get it into calibration mode, but it might be something similar and someone may have soldered a bridge to make it easier when they were calibrating it?

Can you take some photos of it?

Did you buy this meter new or used?  From where?  ebay?  Fluke authorized dealer?

Looks like you might have been scammed.  Now there could a way to bypass "CAL", but manual says

https://assets.tequipment.net/assets/1/26/Documents/Fluke/902_calibrationinformation.pdf

"When the Meter displays CAL, the unit will lock and no measurements can be made. The Meter must be sent to a Fluke Service Center for repair."

A quick search of other Fluke clamp meters that have calibration info might give some possible things to try like (page 12).  This may or may not work on the 902.  I don't know enough about Fluke clamp meters to know how they are calibrated.

https://www.instrumart.com/assets/772-773-cal-manual.pdf

A short button push (1 second) changes the Meter to the first calibration step
A long button push exits the Meters calibration mode
