I have successful communication, but my commands are not valid with the CRTU. FETC:AF:SINAD does not work. I've also tried SYST:CMD:LIST and that does not work.

Anyone able to point me to a good command list I can use for the CRTU-RU?

Don't limit yourself to that model. I wrote definition files for TestController for the SMIQ and SML series. While doing so, I found some commands in their respective manuals awkward, but found my answers in other series' manuals. R&S doesn't rewrite the book for each model, so you'll likely find what you need in something similar. The SCPI commands for the SML and SMIQ were almost entirely the same. I would bet those files could be easily modified for other R&S sig gens.

The first SINAD reference I found for the FPS is: CALCulate<n>:MARKer<m>:FUNCtion:ADEMod:SINad:RESult<t>?

Anyway, hope that helps.

Thanks,
Josh

Wim & Bicurico thanks for the attachments. What I'm hoping to do is perform a SINAD test. By enabling the RF generator and then using the AF analyzer. I am not sure it's possible to do. I do not have the AMPS option (I do have the B41) and when I attempted to update the firmware on my digital board from 4.51 to 5.10 it did not go well. I thought maybe I could use python and my GPIB adapter. If any of you more adept in these topics think otherwise please speak up as this is all new to me.

The K29 is a software only option. You can active this yourself, look here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/enabling-options-for-rs-test-equipment/25/

So you can add all options starting with a "K".

I have not used the SINAD myself, so cannot give any advice on that topic.

Wim,

I followed your link to that thread. I did see someone shared a file on a file sharing website where the link is no longer valid.

My problem is as follows and I'm looking for assistance.

1. I have a CRTU-RU with a B41 card, I'd like to be able to perform a SINAD test, but I do not have AMPS. I was getting assistance from someone, and we tried to upgrade from 4.51 to 5.10 and my digital board did not like it...lots of errors. We decided that since the test set is happy at 4.51 to leave it there as I have a working system.

2. It was suggested to use python to make the set do what I want, which is fine, but doing this is the equivalent of drinking form a fire hose, not afraid to do it, but I have a lot to learn. If someone can help here or give some pointers.

3. Can I add AMPs to my set at 4.51? If so can anyone provide the steps for that? It looks like I could maybe download a file and place it in a directory? Where can I find this file? Then I would need some sort of keygen file? I see lots of references, but only old expired links.

Follow this link and enter your serial number at the top and select which licences you want (and select CMU200). This should hopefully work for a CRTU also. I checked with the ones I generated for my CMU200, and got exactly the same result with this link.

Serial number has normally the following format: xxxxxx/xxx

Hope this also works for a CRTU!

Not sure if you can add AMPs to 4.51, but if you can enter a licence key for that options, it should be possible.

The serial on my cmu200 has a /xxx at the end. But looking online this appears not always be the case. So just enter the serial number in the format it is...

Yes, I made internal speaker working.
You can see(and hear) it on this video

But remember - not every CMU200 physically have speaker installed.

I'm working on a R&S CMU200 backlight. I'm trying to troubleshoot the screen backlight. I purchased and installed a new bulb and driver, but still no backlight. Since I have no schematics for this thing, I was looking at data sheet for the TDK CXA-L0605-VJL CCFL driver board has an input of 5 volts DC, while output is upwards of 1500-1700 volts. I measured 5vdc on pins 1 and 3, and 2 and 4, per the data sheet. But best I can tell, its putting 5vdc out on CN2-1 and CN2-3 where there should be 1500+ VRMS.  I'm not sure how to test the CCFL bulb short of replacing the driver board. Since I don't have an actual schematic for this driver board, not sure how to proceed short of throwing money at it and buying yet another driver. I bought an "LED Conversion Kit" online, but it came with no driver or instructions, just a strip of LEDs, which have disappeared from my parts box. At the time I tried figuring out how to do that, and the seller directed me to another website where someone installed a similar kit into a different piece of test equipment, but that also did not have sufficient information for me to go by either.

Post #4 here has the info on the inverter board for the LCD display and the thread has info on how to remove the front panel to get access to it.

Hoping someone out there may have some information. Also if there is a way I can identify a later generation digital board I could try?

It doesn't. CRTU uses 30-digits licenses.

Wim,

I know where to find my S/N, xxxxxx/xxx but what is the /XXX bit about?

If you don't see /XXX, use /000.

It works just the same for the CRTU in DOS mode, which is the same as the CMU200.

tv84 was referring to the Windows mode, which uses a different licensing method.

Now I'm focused on final testing of my R&S CMU-B11/B12 clone GPSDO timebase.
