Just picked up a pendulum CNT-85 Frequency counter from a local auction. Has the GPIB, 3GHz input and ovenized oscillator (It is the same as a fluke PM6685). Paid $135 after fees.

I picked it up, got back to the workshop, opened it up and checked for anything nasty. Plugged it in and..... Nothing :(

Checked the fuse, fuse was OK. No 240VAC coming into the test points, no 240VAC coming onto the board. Schaffner power filter had gone open circuit. Replaced it with a new one and it powered up straight away. Theres a few scratches and marks on the case, but all in all I got a bargain.

HP 54501A off Ebay for $99. Needs a little TLC and a new NVRAM but mostly OK.  :)
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Great score, and a simple repair as well.

30kg of parts for GBP 62 + 19.50 UK shipping,  :scared:
Hopefully not too many different items. haven't yet completely sorted 15kg of semiconductors from Toploser which I got almost a year ago.

My sister in UK will be "amazed" when this arrives to her. Will need to reship to me somehow.

Congratz !
However, I found myself drowning in huge amounts of useless components looted in few years. I bought so many elytes and boxes of variety of components on flea markets and local auctions/local ebay last years. Useful is only a fraction of them, like standard elyte and resistor values so when I am building something I always have to buy majority of components.
Anyway, I am always happy when some of my friends bring me full seals of SMD components swept off the floor in assembly factory (assembly machine errors/rejects).  ;D Resistors and capacitor I dont sort, easily identified semiconductors like BAV199 or 1GHz MMIC are OK.

Cheers.

Agilent 8648A. Got a good deal on Ebay. Plus I've sold my Marconi 2022D there today so it all worked out.

Not quite test equipment, but found a choice piece of Hakko gear.

Apparently unused Hakko FM-203 setup with the FM-2030 140W iron and a bag of tips, for 220$ shipped.

Sadly, the included tips are all T15 series. So off to buy an FM-2027 iron (and a T22 tip or two for the overkill iron).

Powers up and tested with a friend's FM-2027 iron. All is well and I'm set for the next decade or more  8) (or until I decide to really go stupid and look for an FM-206)

HP5385A,  1000Mhz counter

$85 US, needed a 10 cent electrolytic. Bough it off ebay about ten or twelve years ago and fixed it, still works.

Just got back from the Dayton Hamvention.  Didn't find what I was actually looking for, but came away with a Tek 1502 TDR cable tester for $14.35 (buck a pound, I love those guys) and an HP5245L 8 digit nixie freq counter with the 500MHz plugin.  Got that for $40.  Didn't really need it, but I have a small collection of Nixie gear that sits in my stack and that's a nice addition.

:-DD  The 5245L was the beginning of my nixie addiction.   :-+  I'd say you got a good deal at $40.

Congrats.  What else resides in the stack it will be joining?

If it jams, force it.  If it breaks, you needed a new one anyway...

Great score re the HP 5245L, you guys are lucky being close to the action, the postage to Australia on a 5245L or equivalent is typically 100-130 USD (150-200AUD) :wtf:
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.

I built a clock with nixies from a HP counter that used Burroughs B-5560 and then found more of the same on ebay so I can build another clock. These are the tubes that work upside down. I built it about 15 years ago and it's still going strong!

Hi,

Here is my latest score, a Fluke 720A Kelvin-Varley Voltage Divider.  Picked this up at the Dayton Hamvention for the price of $30.00. Here are a few pictures

I applied 10V from a Fluke 732A dc voltage standard and measured the output with a Datron 1281 DMM:

The Fluke 732A reads about 5pmm high when connected directly to the Datron DMM so it looks like the 720A is working nicely.

I have not been through the adjustment procedure.

Regards,

I have both a 3450A and a 3450B multifunction meters.  Took me a year to track one of those down after seeing a thread on it in this forum.  Someone had pulled the display board, so I picked up the second one, then found a display board on Ebay, so I have both functional.

Nice!  The 3450 is still on my list of 'stuff to get'.  Eventually I'll stumble upon one...
