What's the odds they got this one right?
The proof is in the pudding, and their puddings so far mostly has been great disappointments.
And at US$460, wouldn't you really want to spend a bit more and get a Siglent or Rigol?

$404 for a useless oscilloscope is a lot.
FNIRSI 1013D Always provide a picture or video with the problem where the parameters of the oscilloscope are visible, and a picture of the diagnostic screen with the values.
Firmware is here (or not) https://github.com/Atlan4/Fnirsi1013D/tree/main/Guide%20to%20firmware

Considering you can get the SDS804X-HD for only $57 more and you get:

. 12-bits
. 2GS/s
. 2Mpt FFT
. 16 digital channels
. 4 Math traces
. Power analysis
. Bode plot
. Segmented acquisition
. 18 trigger modes (including 5 serial modes)
. 6 I/O ports

... and a lot more.

I really can't understand their pricing on this at all.

Fnirsi does not care about EEVblog.  They know their reputation here is damaged (justly so).  Their business model is to spew new, shiny stuff and not worry about fixing bugs.

So if you can buy Siglent or Rigol for just a bit more, why buy FNIRSI? Like, what's their (false?) "claim to fame" for this scope?

It might not be a joke, but its ADC is 8-bit. So this device is closer to the Rigol DS1054.
It will be hard for them to compete with Rigol and Siglent. I bought a DHO804 myself and upgraded it — both via software and by replacing the inductors — up to 400 MHz. It’s a really excellent instrument.
Before and after the modification: sweep 30–400 MHz.

I use equipment like the Fnirsi DPOX180, DST-210, and others. What I use works quite well and has satisfied me in terms of functionality and price, so Fnirsi does make some good tools. Let’s hope this oscilloscope is good too, but the price is definitely high.

I'm taking the piss.

I too have FNIRSI products that work well and that I use all the time.  Prime in this respect are their HS-01 and HS-02 soldering irons, their USB meter, their SAG-55 hot air gun and their DPS-150 power supply (actually, it's really just a sophisticated regulator).  Noe of these have given me reason to even look for firmware updates.  They just work as I need them to.

I have other FNIRSI thingys that I use, but only because they suit what I use them for, but they do have glaring issues WRT to their functionality or specs that certainly may affect others, but just don't enter into my used of them.  If you know what I mean.

Then there are quite a few that found new homes....

Fnirsi and Zoyi are growing quickly and are currently occupying a niche that UNI-T, Rigol, and Siglent don’t really go down into—let alone the more serious brands. So no matter how much they’re criticized, people will still buy them, simply because there’s nothing else to replace them in that price range. However, the price of this oscilloscope seems significantly overpriced to me.

Yeah, but it was worth it.  And if you had a mint one right now, you'd be doing very nicely.

Do you think FNIRSI will come up with something that will rock the world like the Apple (1)?

I wouldn't buy anything from UNI-T.  At least when I contact FNIRSI I usually get a response of some kind.  When I had a scope and a bench DMM from UNI-T (cost more than anything from FNIRSI), both had issues and I was never able to get any response from UNI-T.  Absolutely nothing.  Zero.  Crickets .. bzzz...bzzzz..bzzz...

If you really want to throw money away, buy stuff from UNI-T.  They won't get another penny from me.

Yeah, the extension of the DVP.  But, you really just don't want to be on it between the hours of 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM.  However, that's information from 12 years ago.  Things could be much worse now.
