Fancy  ;D

For sure, the form factor, interface socket-arrangement do seem very similar to Rigol's current entry lineup, just with an Owon kinked UI.

a little short on the sampling ...

It's 1.25 GSa/s in dual channel mode. 625 MSa/s with 4 channels.

Eleshop: https://eleshop.eu/test-measure/oscilloscopes/all-oscilloscopes/owon-ads804a-oscilloscope.html

A question of hackability. ;)

I bet it's a rigol inside with owon design software

Also they talk about bode plot on user manual but i didn't understand where is the output of the internal awg

Not sure. Sampling rate is better than the Rigol (DHO800/900).

Rigol has:
625 MSa/s (dual-channel)
312.5 MSa/s (full-channel)

Owon has:
1.25 GSa/s (dual-channel)
625 MSa/s (full-channel)

Also they talk about bode plot on user manual but i didn't understand where is the output of the internal awg
I was wondering the same thing.

I think that's a mistake.
This function is probably only available in the ADS900A with optional AWG (or with an external FG?).

625 MSa/s (full-channel)

I don't think we can trust the user manual. On owon website they write 625MSa/s (dual-channel), and full channel is 6250MSa/s(full-channel)!!!  :palm:

Companies don't worry much about this kind of error these days. Is it too expensive to pay someone competent to write the correct information? Anyway, I sent them an email. Let's see if I ever get a response.

Yes, strange.
I trust the manual more than the advertising.
It's described quite precisely there.

Comparing both manuals:
Owon ADS800A = 2GB system Ram
Rigol DHO800 = 4GB Ram

If the specs on Owon are correct 2GB Ram seems to low for multi window mode if that's possible.

Look like a clone of Rigol? maybe, maybe not. Proper reviews are needed.

Tons of similarities in the case, but, not a 1:1 copy.
They went with yellow/orange instead of turquoise/blue, gotta have two similar channel colors.

I was referring to specs and interface not the case. If Owon clone the case they immediately suffer a law suit.

Wow Owon ADS800A/ADS900A are very similar to Rigol DHO800/900. If someone told me that this models are a rebrand of Rigol model, I would believe him. Control layout and colors aside, they are 1:1 with Rigol. Almost same dimensions, connections type and place (USB C powered, HDMI...) and almost same specs... just enough differences to avoid be sued.

Aside of that, they look promising:
- I like they take advantage of the entire screen. No useless logo in 7" screen. Color scheme it's fine and the texts are clear.
- They are cheaper than Rigol DHO800/900 and theirs specifications are equals or better.
- Interesting ADS900A series. 2G/s and 100Mpts

All that's left is for someone make a review and check that they meet the specifications and how responsiveness they are.

I've found a short video where someone disassemble the ADS924A, the components vary significantly compared to the Rigol DHO800/900. They seem to have two ADCs.

Maybe that makes sense since for the ADS800A with 2 channels active it can maintains 1.25GSa/s.

hmm at least no sd card

for looks I think they all just mimic one another as such scope design is kinda trendy nowadays

also Rigol has a vesa mount and here I do not see it (I would love to have it in Siglent scopes)

is there a battery option that was kinda "traditional" for Owon?

They don't seem to be directly sold in North America, or not much is showing up in the search. But if they do what they are rated for, then I'd say great, the more people that can afford a modern scope, the better.

Why, just bloody WHY? Is there some licensing issue with using 4 easy to differentiate colors? Some secret agreement? This is beyond stupid. We have colors, that glow in the dark, colors that absorb UV-light and convert it to visible light, and yet there are manufacturers that keep doing that.

So, has anyone tried the ADS824A? Curious to see snapshots of traces at the finest 500uV scale to see the internal noise. I am not doing any fast sampling, 10 kHz max.

There is zero need for a 2nd if you know how to drive them.  ;)

When in the field to be adjusted a press should pop up a virtual keypad to precisely set a value rather that have to twist the encoder to that value.
Even experienced users seem to completely overlook such a feature.

Well for us that prefer to drive with knobs when we can, instead of touch screens, a knob for each cursor is easier than having to push and click the knob to navigate through the cursor modes.

I got spoiled with the dual cursor and zoom knobs when I got my first LeCroy 9354AL. I like the resurrection of that feature on the Rigol 800/900 series. If Rigol can do that on such a small platform why can't all of the other scope manufacturers do the same? Encoders are cheap!

I think the "multipurpose single knob" started when Tek introduced that on their early TDS scopes including the popular TDS220 and some prior CRT scopes and when other DSO companies started their venture they just copied Tek. At least the dual knobs returned on the DPO/MSO4000 series and may have been present on other Tek scopes that I might have missed.

I'm not a big fan of touch but I am fully aware of the keypad entry and have used that extensively in combination with the cursor knobs my LeCroy WaveRunner 6100A (built by Iwatsu for LeCroy) which I really like as it has knobs for all major functions including all zoom functions as well as touch screen to boot. I wish I could find a 12 bit scope that has the ergonomics of the WR 6100A.

I also have always liked the way LeCroy implemented the cursors with non screen cluttering simple up and down arrows that will allow indicate the maximum and minimum data point on the screen display instead of the line type cursors of today, which is a fall back to the Tek analog scope method. The cursor arrows go back to the late 80's when they introduced the 9400 series which performance wise was probably 5 maybe 10 years ahead of everyone else, not ro mention deep memory!
