Questions about the AGILENT ESG 44XX Series Signal Generator

Hello.
Does anyone know, if it's a simple matter to retrofit the 1E5 (High Stability Timebase) option for the Agilent ESG 4433 B?

Is communication between PC (ESG / ESG-D Series Service Support Software) and ESG 44XX possible with the RS232 port or only with GPIB?

I haven't tried adding a high stability timebase but I have used RS232 with my E4432B and it worked fine to control it.
