richmeters RM408B Multimeter
« on: September 19, 2019, 05:07:09 pm »
Hi
It is new for 2019
IT IS DIGITAL meter WOW!

https://richmeters.com/products/rm408b-digital-multimeter-button-8000-counts-true-rms-temperature-test-5mhz-frequency-acdc-voltage-current-9-999mf-capacitance
It looks like RM409B downsized to RM101
Mechanical button FUNC instead relay in RM409B

Is it possible to replace SEL button with individual buttons  for Ohm, busser etc.?  any opinions?

That doesn't look like the same meter... for starters the Richmeter is 8000 count and the Q1 is 10K count.

I did find this part of their marketing humorous...

839700-0

The battery voltage looks reasonable... until you notice the meter is set to AC volts and the reading is in mV.

Oh - and the negative lead is on the positive terminal.

And they're using the "A mA" jack.

:palm:

This cracks me up.

Looking at the spec, they finally broke the barrier for a 8000 count meter to show 9.999, 99.99, 999.9 in a number of measurements.

Now check out the probes description, "the original assembly of the sharp rice is guaranteed"
Nice to have an edible probe just in case you forget to pack lunch.
And will someone please explain what "65-core internal resistance is smaller" means?

I think my free Harbor Freight meter is a better buy.

It must be very difficult, or very expensive, to find someone fluent in English in China.  Given all the progress they have made in design and manufacturing, I wonder why they cannot improve their written material.

That means your best quality test leads actually have some amount of conducting material in them, enough to allow the amps fuse blow before the leads glow...

Afaik, some dmm ICs have a setting for counts. At least aneng/etc dmms with 6k counts can actually be enabled for 10k. But this requires changing EEPROM. Check here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/aneng-an8001-6000-count-true-rms-multimeter/msg1881071/#msg1881071

They are not the same meter, the Q1 uses autorange between all ranges, the Richmeter is not a that much autorange, but depends on the Func switch.
I have a review of the Richmeter on the way.

Actually, that’s a great point you brought up.  We Americans thought everyone should use and speak English, but as the balance shifts, there is no reason why Chinese, or another language, be the universally adopted language at some point.
