Rigol DG1022 vs DG1022A material differences
« on: December 26, 2014, 09:37:12 am »
Note: I have done copious searching and have not located relevant information on this topic (unless you consider archived posts recommending "do a search" relevant information).

Link to spec sheet: http://www.tequipment.net/assets/1/26/Documents/Rigol/DG1022A/dg1022a_doc_9.pdf

Questions:

- Beyond the raw numbers in the specs, are there substantive differences between these models (DG1022 vs DG1022a)?

I consider substantive differences to be things of the sort:
  • any noteworthy changes to the internals?
  • any changes affecting reliability/longevity?
  • screen quality?
  • fan noise?
  • etc?

- The DG1022 is still on the Rigol website, but it seems it's been around for a while now--and I have seen mention here and there that it may or may not be discontinued at some time in the past or future. I suppose this is all guesswork, but is this essentially an orphaned product? Or maybe there are still NOS units on the shelf? Asked another way: is this product (DG1022) still being manufactured?

- The $120 price premium is small in absolute terms, but large in relative cost. Does +5MHz sinusoidal, +2MHz pulse, +350kHz triangle indeed warrant a 30% price premium, or is there another story here? Were these units priced differently earlier on?

Thanks in advance for any direction.
