SDS824X HD trace save issue
« on: May 05, 2026, 08:38:26 pm »
Hello,

I have a problem when I save a trace on my Siglent scope SDS824X-HD (it has the latest fimrware 1.1.6.5). The signal saved is distored when I save the trace directly on a flash USB drive on the scope (I also tried with another USB key)  :-BROKE. With this issue, it's impossible to play back directly the signal recorded with my Siglent SDG2042X generator !  |O You can find below some screenshots and saved waveforms of a simple sinewave signal at 1kHz 2Vpp recorded in csv, bin and dat file. Only the dat file is well recovered when I open it with EasywaveX software but is not recognized by my SDG2042X.

Does anyone have encountered this problem ?  :-//

AFAIK, the BIN format of the scope is not same as BIN format of AWG...

You import through EasywaveX, where you can also directly import from scope and send to AWG from software, provided instruments are connected to PC.

And yes, you might think that it could/should work, but scope BIN file is much more complicated. Format supports different types of channels (Math, normal, digital) and multiple channels at the same time. So there is no easy way to import it to AWG.
Also there are 4 BIN formats for the scopes, as the scopes gained 16 bit internal format and such.

Okay, I understand. :-+ It would be great if Siglent could provide a software to convert scope files to AWG files, or perhaps there is somewhere a Python script to do so…

If you connect scope and AWQ to PC over network, from EasywaveX you can directly import from scope and push into AWG.

Python script can be made, maybe even with AI... Both BIN formats are documented AFIK..

Yes but I thougth EasywaveX was limited to 500k points and my SDG2042X have 8M points memory. Also, csv and dat files recorded from the scope are much bigger than bin ones and big files makes the AWG to freeze and needs to be power-recycled.

Yes of course.

The fix is simple, reduce the file size, and set the ARB to loop it continiously.
