Hey Guys,
I have been finding this forums to be invaluable so far, and i am in the process of setting up an electronics lab.
Looking to pull the trigger on a new oscilloscope and narrowed down the choices to the Keysight 1000x series. I am having a hardtime choosing a scope between
the DSOX1102A vs DSOX1102G. From what i can tell the 1102G has a built in function generator and a frequency response analyzer. Is this worth the extra $270,
(DSOX1102A - $870 CAD vs DSOX1102G - $1136). Or is there a better scope for this budget, i want to stick to keysight as their stuff is good quality and should last a long time with good service and support.
Regards,
Raj
If you are fixated on getting an A-brand then look at what R&S has to offer. Like the RTC1000 series. At least these have a lot more memory.

Only
you can answer that...
It depends entirely on what sort of "electronics" you're planning on doing.
Edit:
eg. Having the signal generator inside the 'scope lets you plot frequency response graphs on screen so it's definitely worth it if you're doing audio work.
They're both great options, the G is definitely worth it in my opinion if you're going to use the frequency response analyzer. The function generator is nice and convenient, especially if you are cramped for desk space, but the frequency response is the really valuable part if you need/want it. Otherwise, you can find/build some comparable generator options at a more budget friendly price. Just my $.02 (disclaimer, I work for Keysight).
edit: and yes, the only real difference in the G models is the function generator and FRA, the rest is the same.
The Rigol MSO5074 seems to fit your needs. Some optional features are being offered for free in several places and there's information on these forums to unlock everything including 350 MHz bandwidth. There's also a 2 channel AWG built in.
There's a Keysight store on eBay where you can get some great deals if you want to go the Keysight route.
FYI, I have no affiliation with KS or Rigol but I own scopes made by both companies.
I just went through this and researched for many weeks, on this site and others.
I ended up getting the DSOX1204G. It was a bit more than the DSOX1102G, but I figured it was worth it for two main reasons:
- 4 Channels. No need for it yet, but could come in handy.
- Ability to upgrade bandwidth later if needed.
As far as I can tell, the DSOX1102G is limited to 100MHz, whereas the DSOX1204G has options up to 200MHz.
