It's a beautiful Oscilloscope, with a big high resolution 15.6 screen [FHD]

The picture below gives an indication of the size.

Hello,

well, I don't think 1920*1080 is “big high resolution” anymore.

Full HD is a sweetspot for a 15.6" screen.. it's still only a 15.6" inch screen, and that is a decent size for a modern high-end benchscope, and a screensize we also see on models like Magnova, that also uses Full HD, though a very different scope
You get close to +350% more pixels on the 15.6" screens of SDS7000A & SDS8000A (2.1 mio) than what you get on fx SDS3000X HD, which I recall got 1024x600 screen resolution (600k) on its 10.1" screen.
Models like SDS6000PRO (H10/H12) and SDS5000X-HD seem to all use 12.1" and 1280x800 as far as I can tell from their datasheets.

Hello,

in terms of resolution, Micsig's MHO series is the best I've seen so far. No other scope has 1920*1200 resolution. I don't think even scopes costing over $1,000,000 have such high resolution.

No, the front panels warnings are for 50 Ohm input mode and the datasheet specifies 1 MΩ ≤ 42 Vpk for External trigger (edit to correct)

These use a new probe interface called SAPBus2 of which there are HiZ and 50 Ohm probes available.
See P19 of the datasheet.  ;)

Hello,

according to the data sheet, the SDS8000 only has: “Input impedance 50 Ω ± 3%.”
A necessary probe for 1 MOhm is likely more expensive than an additional SDS800X HD for I2C, SPI, and UART.

Yes, sorry you are correct, 50 Ohm inputs only.

Quite possibly, the selection of probes is constantly evolving and there is much yet to learn about SDS8000A.

all top range of freqencies scopes are usually 50 Ohms input due to transmission line specialization - this is how industry operates

supa scope -> mega wallet drain accessories mandatory ;)

Yes, 1200p is not that common, as far as I can tell - most higher-end scopes tend to max out with 1080p.

The only other scope that comes to mind with a 1200p screen is the one from Jiujin.. though 15" 1600x1200p
Another one of these "independently developed" Chinese high-end scopes that are seeing daylight over the last decade, likely backed with significant state funding.

Its a model from a few years back, I dont think its been ported to the west, even though all their promo, datasheets, etc were in English.
I have uploaded the Western datasheet here. https://pdfhost.io/v/3KRGbLRsbV_PDS6184A

Its this one below [ 18/20GHz, 80Gsa/s, 2Gpts/ch.]

  • TEAS is real.
1920x1200 is 16:10 aspect ratio. While that aspect ratio does make sense for scopes, they typically use standard 16:9 panels which are more standard/common. If they have to pay an extra 12 cents for a panel, that will cost an extra $5000 to the end user. ;)
