I bought this scope a few months ago, what swung it for me was the trend capabilities of the Siglent over the others. The oscilloscope itself has worked fine, recording your data to USB stick worked flawlessly but when switched to the trend mode it's been a different story.
My equipmentSiglent SHS806
Software Version 3.01.01.33R3
Hardware Version 1-31-3.3
USB Sandisk Cruzer Fit 4Gb W95 FAT32 (0x0b)
USB Samsung Mighty Drive W95 FAT32 (LBA) (0x0c)
So here is my experience so far.
I have already posted a message on here about the .DAV data file format and Siglent helpfully replied saying that they will add .csv to the trend functions in the next firmware update. If Siglent are listening Date, timestamps and scope parameters should also be included in my opinion.
Scope RecorderThis function continuously records the waveform at a minimum time base of 100mS for internal memory (max 4mins and after can be copied to USB) and for straight to USB at a minimum time base of 2.5S (297 Hrs 31 mins for my 4Gb USB stick). BTW for the 100mS internal memory option the recorder can be set to record in a continuous loop. A useful tool i thought, but after leaving it monitoring a intermittent fault recording to USB i found it recorded nothing! The unit had switched itself off! So after running it again at home with me monitoring it i found that when the record time in the top left of the screen gets to exactly 60mins and 60 secs it freezes and the scope does not respond to any of the keys. Very disappointing!
Scope TrendPlotSo whilst at home i thought i would see what the Scope trendplot would give me. This allows the recording of both channels using any of the 32 measurements alternatively you can record 1 channel with any 2 of the 32 measurements (volts, time, delay). I left it running with one probe attached picking up noise from my mains cables after several hours i saved the file to USB (.DAV format unfortunately). Then i noticed as i picked up the probe and touched the end with my fingers that "ParamA" set up to Vpp jumped to 5.02 Volts and stayed there until i let go and back again when i touched it??
Meter TrendPlotThis seemed to be ok. Left it running with a probe attached near my mains cables and it did nothing strange. Saved the file to USB (.DAV again) and as i was on the file menu i noticed the load button. This must be how you look at the .DAV files i thought, so i stopped the trend and went back to see if i could load up the file i had recorded. Nothing! (i went back and it's the same with the Scope Trend Plot as well)
It seems to me that maybe the recording functions were an after thought and not much testing has been done. It's a real shame as this would be really useful to me, maybe the Fluke scopes were they way to go for a hand held scope with trend capabilities but they are way out of my price range.
