Tek 2445b Auto Setup Message
« on: June 08, 2015, 04:09:55 pm »
My new-to-me 2445B shows "small or low rep rate signal" when the auto setup button is pushed and when channel one is connected to an Elecraft SG-1 signal source producing 7.490 mHz 50 uV signal.  It doesn't go on to display anything, but I can bring up the signal with some knob twisting and button pushing, and then it displays the signal just fine.

Same thing with a 1 mHz 2 volt signal.

Any Ideas?  Or have I assumed something I shouldn't have?

WBCQ fan? The lowest range is 2mV/div (20mV/div with 10x) probe. 50uV is 0.05mV, so it probably is going to be too low lock on to or even really see (2.5% of a division high at 2mv/div). 2V should be no trouble, so there could be a problem, verify it displays that and triggers on it manually. In practice auto setup really isn't too useful or even used much.

What coupling are you using? maybe it's set into low frequency reject.

Also is the holdoff set to minimum?

A/B trigger mode button pushed?

And I have no idea what Auto LVL is but it seems it has both an Auto and an Auto LVL for the trigger mode.

Source set to Vert or the channel you are probing?

Does it do the same thing on the other 3 channels?

Edit: and by not displaying anything you mean like if it was set to norm and not triggered so you get nothing at all on the screen? or do you still see the sweep?
