What I really want is something like this, but that is completely insane in price. (A SEK is about 1/9 USD today.)

Is that price a –ing joke or what? £1400 pounds ex VAT for a 1m x 700mm square set of filing draws? A 1m x 500 x 600 three drawer filing cabinet from Bisley* is £255 inc VAT - not an exact match, but roughly parallel; certainly close enough to know that someone's pricing is stratospheric.

*Bisley are the UK 'standard' in almost every office in the country. It's one of those names that everybody will know subconsciously, like Armitage-Shanks.

That sounds about right. They are high end industrial storage unit. Very similar to Lista. The build is orders of magnitude higher than a filing cabinet. You could literally use the drawers on a Lista as a set of steps. Don't ask how I know....
https://www.lista.com/en/

Oh, OK. So the sort of things you'd trust actors or drummers with. So props/stage equipment.  :)
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

brrrrrr, The last thing I remember about Canada was when they stole my Down Jacket out of the car parked in front of the Hilton Garden Inn in Burlington. I was not happy.

They are high end industrial storage unit.

Yeah, that's about it. They're suited to filling with reamers and threading tools, or to the brim with M6 nuts.

A sealed enclosure at the top that can heat stuff... has to be for a big ultra stable fancy OCXO of the latest generation.
The cabinet under it is most likely to store some TE, quite practical, good buy !  :-+

Who says workshop equipment has no place in the kitchen?

Not me!

" Campingaz " ?! Can't believe it, is that something you brought home when coming back from a trip to France, or does that mean these things are so state of the art that no local / UK manufacturer can make some of their own ?!  :-//

Not complaining... helps the French economy !  :-+

Just the cheapest screw-on can of butane/propane mix that the local trade outlet (toolstation.com) had. I'd have bought it even if it was labelled in Cyrillic, gas is, well, just gas. Now, if I'd realized that it was French...  >:D

Seriously, if it was at Toolstation that probably means that it's the cheapest that they can get wholesale. They don't scrape the bottom of the barrel, but if someone was to say that they took the layer immediately above that I wouldn't demure at that statement.

Pretty common, I think. At least in Belgium and the Netherlands it's a household name.

Mrrppfff... 5100B calibrator. Mostly fine, except for lower resistance ranges and pretty much all current ranges.

I'd like something that just works from time to time.

Spoke too soon on the Amprobe 2020 paower analyser. A bit more testing with various single phase connections in 3 phase 4 Wire mode ( I don't have a 3 phase supply) showed up some Voltage errors. Blue channel is wrong for starters.
 :-BROKE
Fortunatly the PCB layout is fairly logical. The inputs are a resistive dividers  to a MUX then op-amp buffers. A bit of signal tracing with the trusty Fluke indicates a faulty MUX IC. Tha one on the bottom left. It's a 74HC4052 which I don't have in stock. I've a CD4052 in DIL but it's not worth hacking it in, not with mains floating around.
So off to order a 74HCT4052M. Or 3. Plus a couple of MAX 492 and 494. Even if I had to replace all the MUX and buffer IC's it would be worth while.
Interestingly the PCBs are marked HT instruments not Amprobe.

I used to buy that when I spent a couple of years lorry driving, my dog and I used to sleep in the cab and had a Campinggaz fire, Campinggaz light and a Campinggaz cooker to give us light, heat and hot food, great fun it was too. To answer your question, Campinggaz was everywhere in the UK and think I'd be correct in saying that it still is.

Geez, what the bleeding hell is going on over in America, LA in particular? I've just seen this BBC TV report of goods trains being robbed, even while they are moving. The thieves they say are looking high value items and just throwing other stuff of the trains.

No absolution necessary that I can see.  In Oz, that is basic cooking equipment.  If you didn't have something like that you would be considered underprivileged.

Acceptable alternatives include a steel plate propped up on bricks with wood chucked underneath - though those tend to be lower to the ground and can't be used on fire ban days.
