With my new Test Gear Tetris shelf I need either some feet for the 34401A to keep it away from any direct heat of the 6632B. Not feet available so Custom 3D designed (time) and printed for $2 or buy a set of fake rubber front and rear bumpers off the bay of evil for $55 AUpesos. Coffee first then decide or design.

Holy Shitballs, eBays picked up a bit for me at least  A quick trip in London N1 today netted me this lovely piece of gear for less than £10, shown here just before I ripped the guts out to perform on it. I know have 4 of these puppies, 3 fully working and this one needing some TLC, bonus points to anyone can tell what it is?


There's more to this than you can see here, there's a further 8 boards below these 

Based upon the RCA jacks on the far right and the heat sink on the bottom it has to be some sort of receiver/amp.

What's my prize?

It is actually a TEAC CR-H250 that was listed as dead  and the seller said that it just died one day but that the DAB section was working prior to it refusing to switch on. I have 2 TEAC units that are complete apart from the DAB modules, 1 was a CR-H240 and the other is T-H300DABmkII so I took a chance and made an offer on it., took the module out and it was working, put it into a H250, repaired the T-H300 so it now works on FM and AM only.

It seems that the module is a weak link in the system and I keep looking out for replacement modules in other broken gear that I end repairing so its a never ending circle. 

If only I can find a couple of units that are so FUBAR but with usable DAB modules, I could break the cycle then 

EDIT:
On the plus side however, the profits from the eventual resale funds more TEA so it's a means to an end so thats what really counts

A bit of a funny story, about 12 months ago the AC card of my 3458 went to electron heaven, I found a good used card for about 1/3 new price. Calibration involves three thermal AC to DC converters (crazy money!) so that didn't happen. For a laugh I used the output of an Agilent 33519 generator - the most accurate AC source I had, and 'calibrated' the 3458 using the 33519. In October I got the 3458 calibrated by keysight and the AC was 'in specification'. HiHi

I suspect they know I am a 'small fish' - the military and serious Uni guys probably get the serious bills!

Even so it was still rather expensive considering it was within spec, they only checked the ranges, never had to adjust anything

I think that was mine! HiHi, I sold it at a ham buy and sell, I think I got $50 for it, they are a lovely low distortion freq generator, I have its younger brother - so cleared a bit of shelf space.

Unboxed it immediately and am surprised:
It's a HP 53132A but it has a Channel 3 connector on the front that was neither shown on the pictures of the ebay auction nor mentioned in the description..!   

I'll let it alone now that I can work and it can acclimate and after work I'll check it.
