Please, someone buy this...

You have noticed on my shop I have a slew of Datrons inbound, right? Actually, some 1065A's too but not enough to be statistically sure I'll have enough "good" ones to list quite yet  >:D

Yeah, I'm an ass.

@bd139, Did you get a loss of smell and taste as well as the fever?

Yep only when I had fever though. Drank some coke zero and it tasted completely different to usual and also couldn't eat sausage as it had no flavour at all.  :--

Ooh, pretty dire for a Londoner. What about pie, mash and liquor?

Which poses the question? Is the procrastinator's club a kind of reverse Groucho Club? You aren't allowed in unless you want to join, but you mustn't actively try to join to get your membership accepted.

There's one of these super cute Tek 212s on one of the Swedish auction sites.

Not so much something I'm interested in, but it's so cute I'd almost buy it just for the cute factor!

And I'll bet they want an outrageous price for it. :scared:

They wanted the equivalent of $120 for it. Not too bad for a genuine collector's item. Not unexpectedly, it is sold.

That's cheap for one that works. No wonder it sold fast.

Yes, but since you know what you're about, you're not going to have them up for £120, more like double that.

Wouldn't surprise me if he accepted an offer of £100 or so.

I would reply with something smart but I can't get my head around German transitive vs intransitive verbs today and will probably sound like the idiot I am :-DD

I'll admit I abused Gurrgle Translate... I found that every synonym for "a matter of discussion", "debatable", or "arguable"  I tried came up with the same translation, and if I translated the phrase to German, then to English and then to German again it came up the same; so I figured it most likely had the right connotative as well as denotative value.   ;D

Please, someone buy this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DATRON-1065A-Digital-Multimeter-8/324120775205 before my resolve weakens.

Careful. If you look at the seller's address on google maps, you'll see that he rents part of a yard and keeps his stock outside in shipping containers. There's considerable risk of damage to anything sensitive due to humidity and temperature extremes. The Solartron 7075 that I bought from him had significant damage caused by a very heavy piece of test equipment being dropped on the bottom cover of the meter.

I got a partial refund for that as it had also broken the seal on one of the display modules.

On the other hand, the HP5334A counter that I bought from the same seller was fine, so it's a gamble as to what condition things will really arrive in and it's fairly obvious when you look at some of his other sales that stuff isn't handled carefully while they have it. I've seen plenty of 'scopes with broken knobs etc. consistent with rough handling and storage.

Can you give me a good deal on a Datron 1281/1271?

:D

Eh, no, was planning to put them up for 150€ + shipping. Off eBay a bit less.

Eh, no 8,5's inbound, sorry. Actually have a HP3458 'Project' on the bench, but that's a loooooong way from being finished and it will be, uhm, perhaps slightly more expensive.

Ouch!

Yeah, the only thing I've actually bought from him before (as far as I can remember) was a 500g reel of Multicore 60/40.

@med6753 Instantly I saw this, I thought of you, our own Mr Tek. Have you got one of these in your kit yet?

Thanks, I'll check it out later. I subscribe to his channel so he must have just posted that.  :-+

I checked out the video. Very interesting. It takes the Type 106 Square Wave Generator, the Type 184 Time Mark Generator, and the Type 191 Signal Generator and combines it into one unit.

@bd139 do yourself a favor and have them examine your lungs once this is over. Reason is that this bloody virus has a lot of nasty long term effects and cause things like fibrosis. Get it checked out, we have some medication in the pipeline which may stay fibrosis, but the condition must be detected as soon as possible to minimize the damage.

In case there is substantial scarring in your lungs please by all means see a specialist.

Indeed. Already aware of that one. Just because you survive something doesn't mean it doesn't fuck you up. My ex suffers from sarcoidosis (she has this as well at the moment - oops) so have spent the last 15 years in and out of Brompton's resipiratory medicine department learning things. At least that was useful  :-DD

I can actually feel the respiratory symptoms, fortunately lightly, after the pain is wearing off. Will take a while to get over this I suspect properly. SPO2, BP, heart rate fine though.

Wouldn't have made a damned bit of difference; I'd still find a way to fuck it up. :-DD

Update on the whereabouts of my 4503, last time it had its way from Wembley to Dunstable, 40 miles north of its starting position, not its travelled again to Rugby, another 40 miles further north  :palm: I'm 42 miles East of Wembley, so assuming it has reached it last stop before being sent on its way to me it will have driven somewhere in the region of 190 miles to get to me  |O

Glad I didn't get that 2019A off him a few weeks back now.

My Sorensen PSU came from that seller, I originally bought the Xantrex version from him which was buggered (no output), it got returned, thankfully he had the working Sorensen replacement as these PSU's are usually overpriced from other sellers. Note that none of the items are tested beyond a power up check.

The yard he keeps his stock in is just a place with many rented industrial units & containers, which are pretty common everywhere these days. I certainly couldn't work out which unit on the site my returned item went back to.

By the way that seller has as least one other ePay account which I've bought a few things from in the past, including a box of broken glass (ex-lamps).  :palm:

He also sold that pricey faulty looking Tek curve tracer a few weeks back and now has another listed with the same pictures, that's something I noticed with the PSU I bought which also had reused pictures.
