Note the skills of the guy. He cropped the image accurately down to the pixel so that it looks like a tidy bench, when in fact there are boxes full of stuff stacked up to the ceiling left and right ! 

Stupid question : why are you making your future move more difficult ? Why not simply wait until you have moved, to then buy the TE and not have to move it soon after (and risk damaging it in the process, also ! ) ?

 

I guess you are just too impatient... after 6 months TE-less, you feel the need for TE again,  so badly that you can't even wait a few weeks or whatever is your moving date...

I’m ready to roll with the move. Now jammed on other people.  Figured I’m capable of burning some time on stuff I enjoy while I wait.

Also opportunities come and go. I’d regret passing on some or them.

As for the state of things it’s fairly minimal still…

This 3465A has some interesting problems with it 

So far if you short the input it drifts up on all ranges. And there’s a measurement offset. If you short the input JFET to ground it is fine. Currently happily buzzing out the front end. Whatever is wonky is really really difficult to find. Hopefully not the thin film array.

Edit: Fixed it. Comedy moment. I will write it up in another thread and on HPAK group.

Just so you don't feel all alone, we're just reviving our car after 1 1/2 years in the underground car park. 100,000 km inspection with oil change, filters, change of break fluid etc.pp. Plus MOT. About 600 euros, they say, if they don't find anything unexpected. At least the tank is still 3/4 full. Was 1.05 euro per liter at the time.

And no, I can't do any of this myself. Wouldn't know where to do it.

Oh, yes, I need to do full wheel alignment, once I've swapped all the springy bits, and there's a 240000km inspection, too. Oil, filters, the lot.

Alignment I will outsource; the place where I'm likely to buy tires have done really good alignments of my old cars, so will let them do both, in concert.  The rest looks like I'm doing it m'self.

No TE for a while here. The car seems to swallow insane amounts of money, what with suspension renovation and similar. Picked up new sealing rings for front bearings today, and have just ordered reinforced rear springs and new front brake pads. New rear shocks and front control arms, as well as ABS rings are waiting to be fitted; got the old control arms out this weekend with a considerable amount of profanity involved.  One ABS sensor has already been swapped out; will be fixated as soon as I've got the new control arms in place.

To top this off, I need 4 new tyres too. Yay. And MOT defaults May 31st.

You should top that tank up to full with premium fuel before the MOT. Stale fuel is not great for emissions.

No, I don't want to bother the seller about this, because I have zero intention to buy his meter. Not that I don't want to, but just that I can not : he sells it for 150 Euros, which is 3 times my "impulse buy budget", he says he won't take no offer, and also it's local pick-up only, and of course he leaves half way across the country from me.
So I don't want to waste his time and make him angry.

I am secretly hoping he might lower the price " one day ", because it's been on sale for 5 months now as you can see so... I keep an eye on it, who knows. Hardly holding my breath though...

Those Philips DMMs turn up occasionally & rarely make more than £50, unless in near perfect condition, most seem a bit beat up & corroded.

Nothing, that's why I don't have, and will never, have anything like that thing! 

Those look a bit modern, at least compared to my [hp] /  Harrison duo, a 6237 and a 6206. But the TTi CPX200 looks at them and thinks they're like Grandpa, as does the Uni-T one. I truly feel I'm close to complete in the DC bench supply department; all I need is a high voltage one, like 320V or so. The  6209 is nice; pity they're always so expensive.

The old HP/Dymec 2401A/2401C could measure frequency - to a blinding 300 kc, according to the spec sheet (it came out before Hz was widely used for frequency).

Thanks ! Looks really nice, would not mind one !!  ! I guess they must be rare in expensive, but you will tell me you got it for a tenner in some ham fest, or free found on the side of the road, just to drive me mad !!! 

Maybe they go for cheaper because they are not branded "HP"  ?!

No, that one I found at a surplus place in CA about six years ago.  It had been there for a while given the coating of dust it wore.  Can’t recall what I paid for it, probably between $70~100 (and likely about that again to ship it home).  As far as I can tell, they’re pretty rare at this point - mine is the only one I’ve ever seen in the flesh, though I know of one other guy on the HPAK mailing list who also has one.  Dymec was one of the early companies that HP bought out; look closely at the logo and you’ll notice it is the contemporary HP logo, but inverted.

It’s a cool old beast, but huge and heavy for being a DC voltmeter.

Some of the spare used display boards (no glassware fitted) I bought from Sphere, are from one of those, only confirmed it after buying a manual.
I do have the AC/ohms unit for one, but no matching voltmeter, the knobs have been changed for Philips ones, for some unknown reason.
