TLA614 Hard Drive crash

I know it’s likely a long shot, but the drive on my TLA614 gave up the ghost. Does anyone know how to get ahold of the win 2000 recovery disk and the software to do a reinstall?

Windows 2000 images can be found using Google. The logic analyser software can be downloaded from Tektronix. This is also a good time to upgrade to an SSD (for example using an mSata to 44pin adapter).

Get a industrial grade ssd with the same ide interface, very common for pane pcs

Thanks for the tips. I’ve gotten w2k installed. However, Tek doesn’t have the TLA 4.4 software available anymore and 5.1 won’t install. Anyone have any ideas? I extracted some of the drivers from the 5.1 installer but that’s as far as I got. Missing a pci bridge device and a usb device driver.

I have Tektronix Logic Analyzer Family Application Software, Version 4.4, part number 063-3487-03, CD-ROM.

I could create an image of that CD-ROM and upload it somewhere if that helps and if there aren't any other copies around.

Have the system up and running on do with SW 5.6. Thank you to gslick and nctnico! I have the max option for the 614 of 200mhz and 256k depth. I see the 62x series start with a depth of 1mb. The data sheet mentions 2mb but I don’t see an option for that. Is the hardware different between the 62x and 61x? Or is this possibly a hidden option that can be enabled?

The difference between the TLA61x series (64 K depth, options for up to 256 K depth) and the TLA62x series (1 M depth) is probably similar to the difference between the TLA7Lx module series (32 K depth, options for up to 128 K depth) and the TLA7Mx module series (512 K depth).

The higher series might use the same number of sample memory devices on the PCBs, but devices that are 4 times more dense, so there would be no software only option to upgrade from the TLA61x series 256 K depth to the TLA62x series 1 M depth.

If I got curious enough I could open up a TLA7L4 and a TLA7M4 for a quick memory device comparison. I don't have a TLA61x or TLA62x series.

I bought a TLA624 real cheap as I needed more state samples. Turns out the only difference in the boards is the sample memories being 4x more dense as you had speculated. I do have a weirdness with the 624 though. I have the 1Meg depth but I can only sample at 100mhz. The application for unlocking features says the 200mhz was an option but the sticker on the back says that it should already have 200mhz. There is no key code cause the 624 were only 1M 200mhz. Any idea on what I can do to rectify that?

Do you have the "OpenChoice Talker Listener" installed in the TekVISA folder on your TLA624? If you do, can you start it up and connect to the analyzer instrument and then try issuing these queries:

SYST:CONF:DEPTH?
SYST:CONF:MAX:DEPTH?

SYST:CONF:SPEED?
SYST:CONF:MAX:SPEED?

If the reported current values are less than reported max values then you can use these commands to set the current values to the max values:

SYST:CONF:DEPTH <DEPTH>
SYST:CONF:SPEED <SPEED>

To enable the modification of the values you first need to to use this command, where <VERSION> is the firmware version reported in response to an *IDN? query:

SYST:PASS:INST:PASS "PitBull<VERSION>"

And after modifying the values you need to use this command for the modified values to take effect, where <TIME> is the current Unix timestamp value, for example from https://www.unixtimestamp.com/

SYST:PASS:INST:UPD <TIME>

If the battery in the NVRAM chip is dead the speed and depth changes may be lost and revert to their lowest option values when the analyzer is powered off.

I have Tektronix Logic Analyzer Family Application Software, Version 4.4, part number 063-3487-03, CD-ROM.
