Use JDS-6600 for filter alignment
« on: September 09, 2019, 08:49:15 am »
My first post on this forum.
I recently bought a JDS-6600 wave generator (the 60 MHz edition).
I want to use it as a wobbulator  to align IF filters. Does anyone know if there is a way to sync my oscilloscope (an ancient Philips PM3212) with the sweep period? I can't find any information on such an application of the JDS. It would be also great if the 0.1 second sweep period limit could be lowered to say 20 ms.

Have not tested it but I would try the following:
(assuming that the frequency spread is small around a center frequency).

CH1 FM-modulated from CH2
CH2 with 50Hz = 20 ms triangle wave form.

CH1 = Y-Axis on scope
CH2 = X-Axis on scope

with best regards

Andreas

I will try that. I am not sure though if JDS-6600 supports FM. Actually I assumed it didn't. The bandwidth is indeed small, a few 100 kHz around a  center frequency at 10.7 MHz.

Hello,

works at least with my FT6800 signal generator as you can see on a FFT with peak-hold

with best regards
