UNI-T UTG932 Rotary Encoder Replacement
« on: February 23, 2021, 04:32:45 am »
Hi,
I got my UTG932 Function Generator, and I like it very much.
Unfortunately, its Rotary Encoder got broken during my flight back home.
I decided to try repairing the unit myself, and replaced the Rotary Encoder with EC12E20-24P24C-SW.
But unfortunately it is doing nothing on pushdown (click).
So now I wonder, maybe this is not the correct part.
On the original encoder there are no marks, so I can't find out exactly which it is.

Thus, can anyone please point me to the right direction?
Which is the correct Rotary Encoder for UTG932?

Or, why the push/click would not work on the new Encoder.
After I replaced it, I checked it with the multimeter on the board, and it shows the push button is clicking fine.
But does nothing on the menu.
Thank you

Check for hairline fractures in the traces of the circuit board, if the switch got pushed too hard it could have cracked the circuit board. Dave had a video where he found such an issue in an unresponsive front panel.

Thank you Algoma!
You are absolutely right, there were micro cracks on the board, just not visible, I checked the continuity of the paths, and only then I found it.
I fixed it, it is working fine now, like new.

I 've learned a lot from this board,  so thank you Dave too!

Glad you got it fixed.

Plz let us know more about how you like the UTG932 - UI, accuracy, etc.
