Warranty on a used Rigol DS1102E
« on: January 29, 2017, 07:33:20 pm »
Picked up a used Rigol DS1102E of ebay for a steal. I want to replace the fan w/ a quieter one and maybe put a heatsink on the voltage regulator under the fan. My question is, should I bother attempting to keep the warranty sticker in place or just go for it. Since I bought it used I don't have the original receipt or anything.

Thoughts?

Edit: Also, if any of you folks have suggestions for heatsink and/or fans to use on this scope, I'm open to suggestions.

Wait a couple of weeks until you're sure it's working then just go for it.

IIRC Rigol has a warranty period of 3 years and the DS1102E is a pretty old model, so I doubt that the warranty sticker will get you a warranty and I doubt that you'll need one. Don't just cut it though! At least use it as an opportunity to practice the heat gun + wax paper + patience maneuver. Then sell the sticker on ebay  ;D
