IGNIS Camera - Argus
« on: February 08, 2023, 08:39:33 pm »

I’ve just seen a flyer on the Avon Argus Mi-TIC thermal imager and it claims to now incorporate an “IGNIS Engine.”   Is that a Samsung engine?  Or is it just the FPA integrated into Argus in-house technology.

For those not familiar, the Argus camera was developed by the team at e2v in Chelmsford and without any doubt had one of the best engine technologies available anywhere for firefighting.  I am flabbergasted that they would replace their engine with one made elsewhere.

What is going on over there?

Hi David,

That is marketing  :blah: :blah: fluff, responding to everyone else having 'an XYZ engine' and that kind of thing getting into tenders.
It goes back a few years and in practical terms means the ULIS 17u sensor running the internal sensor ADC.

Current Mi-TIC cameras continue to use the same overall sensor drive and processing approach as Argus4.
