Questions about thermal expert
« on: October 20, 2020, 04:40:22 pm »
Hello guys.
I have a few questions:
1. Is www.thermalexpert.eu also official? Or only the .com one is legit?
2. Do their devices have unique serial numbers? How can we check it (both by hardware and software)?
Thank you!

Hi,
the .eu website is not an i3 systems owned domain but rather the european distributer for i3 systems ThermalExpert cameras. They only started business shortly after I got my Q1 camera directly from i3 in Korea. One year later I got an V1 camera from the .eu shop-owner via a different channel.
As you seem to be based in the US I would suggest directly contacting i3 system through their contact website. I assume prices might be a bit better if you ask there directly ;-)

Regards
Toni

The .EU domain is a storefront for Austrian high voltageshop, they are the official resellers for Thermal Expert dongles and cores. If you and nice enough they will give you a price list of the 30hz and wide temperature range as well. They do even offer a product that the i3 website doesn't offer with the TE-M1.

I recently saw a claim that i3 microbolometers use a Titianium layer on top of the Vanadium Oxide subtrate for their sensor. I might out up a thread about that soon, if I find enough information and understand the chemistry.

I heard that they use a TiOx microbolomter in that camera some time ago. I have not personally confirmed this though.

A patent detailing use of a TiOx Microbolomter design......
