Thermal Expert/i3system SDK
« on: October 22, 2026, 06:52:02 am »
Hi all,

I'm trying to setup a portable imaging setup with an i3system/Thermal Expert TE-EV1 (640x480) and have got a program running on my computer that is outputting raw data from the camera. Looking at portable Windows capable boards I can't find anything in stock and I'm advised to look at something non-Windows based to avoid all the associated overheads. A Raspberry Pi unit seems to make sense in terms of availability, particularly for accessories and peripherals, however I'm currently communicating with the camera using x86 Windows DLLs and a Windows kernel driver that I don't think I can use on a Pi unit. Does anyone know if there is an SDK available for the TE-EV1 at all and does anyone have a copy of it? I have tried contacting i3system for assistance and haven't got any response, has anyone else here had more success getting through to them?

I've added a copy of happy snaps from testing the new setup at home!

Regards,
Marcus

I have some files another forum member made available to me 8 years ago.   I never tried to use them because I did not buy a TE camera & I can't guarantee they will work for your unit, but I don't see any remarks about NDA or otherwise "do not share", so I'll post them here.

The gzip files contain an executable (script) that installs the .lib & header files needed for the particular architecture (which are contained in the executable), and some lousy Doxygen-generated documentation.  The header files have the following #defines, so hypothetically it's intended to work with your EV1:

 #define I3_TE_Q1 0x01
 #define I3_TE_V1 0x02
 #define I3_TE_EQ1 0x03
 #define I3_TE_EV1 0x04
 #define I3_TE_M1 0x09

There are 2 short sample programs (for Windows) contained in the documentation.

I had to zip the .gzipped files together since .gz is not allowed as attachment...
I am not opposed to exercise, unless it is an exercise in futility.
