Netscape for GNU/linux ppc-750(G3)/BE

for a vintage project, I would appreciate running Netscape(1) on a PPC-750 (aka G3)/BigEndian(2) GNU/Linux.

I don't know if Netscape was ever compiled "statically", but if it needs external libraries, then ... I would need to setup a whole minirootfs to make it running.

Anyway, I cannot find any binary around.
He died after the "browser war" against Microsoft Explorer (~2003)

Any idea? 


(1) should integrate and support Java-v1

I seem to recall Yellow Dog Linux had Netscape bundled in the distribution. Might be worth tracking down an ISO of some of the older versions and having a look.

I don't know where to find an old YellowDog distro 

The alternatives to Netscape seem to be

• Mozilla, pre-Firefox: sources were available, can it be compiled on a modern GNU/Linux ecosystem?
• Dillo: sources are available, it can for sure be compiled on a modern GNU/Linux ecosystem

I probably have a Yellow Dog Linux CD somewhere? It was the first linux distro I installed (on my brand new powerbook G3)

However right now I'm at some 400 kms from the place where it probably is.

There's a whole bunch of ISOs available on archive.org:

I think that link above for 5.0+ releases are probably too new. All the references I can find to Netscape are from the 3.0 era.

The open sourced Netscape first had been called SeaMonkey: https://www.seamonkey-project.org/ , before split into Firefox and Thunderbird.
