As much as I would like to see this as true, I smell a bit of 1st April about this. More than happy to be wrong.

  • keebler

Ahh, got me.. it’s still 31.03.2016 here so I wasn’t prepared for 1st April jokes 😀

  • tlhIngan

True, I think it’s got a bit of April 1 to it. I mean, there’s no EEVBlog number associated with it. Also, it means we lose all those nice dumpster dive episodes. Also, notice how Dave never actually shows us photos of the building, they were either renders from the initial acquisition or perhaps when it was still occupied? If he really was getting it, he would’ve gone in already (and would be in his rights to take photos during the walkthroughs).

But given it’s not even lunchtime on the 31st, it too caught me off guard.

Plus, I don’t think anyone would give away so much space for so little.

It is already April 1st in Australia 🙂

  • Geoffrey Feldman

April 1 or he is selling a lot more uCurrent Gold and Multimeter’s than anyone could have imagined.

  • Sebastian Gajate

Awwww! Got me Dave!! It would’ve been awesome though, you could build a hell of a hackerspace there!! 😀 All the best from Argentina!!

As an HVAC/R mechanic the cost of running air systems regardless of heating or cooling a place like that would put any one person out of business in a hurry.

Epic April video had me grinding the cost at first viewing.

  • Frank Nova

WOW! I’m considering moving to Australia and shack up with you guys !
Only, I doubt I’ll have time to do so before April 2nd…

  • Frank Nova

But seriously… Couldn’t such a place be turned into a huge hackerspace for a major tax write-off ? The HVAC is most likely still in function, ( but reduced if there is no server farming within, and no bio-load, and no doors openings). Is it true that it hadn’t been occupied for four years ? Here in Montreal, there are the humongous (about 5-10 times the size of the Altium building, a whole campus) labs of Merck-Frosst that have been mothballed for more than two years, with one or two lone security company cars parked in their huge empty parking. It happened after the Nexium (medication) lawsuit debacle that cost them billions, where they fired 1200 research scientists. They even built brand new offices (about the size of the Altium builiding) but do not use the previous campus’ buildings. Go figure…

  • Gerald Ryder

Good one Dave ! Perhaps you could raise chickens with all the spare space ?

  • Laurence Wilkins

Dave could you use the space to set up a PCB CAD software company or something?

  • Laurence Wilkins

oh, no, wait – looks like somebody else already thought of that. Whatever happened to ’em?

  • CoyoteDen

Well, obviously you need to move photonicinduction and RODALCO2007 in there with you. What could *possibly* go wrong?

  • Borgonomics

Start a Technology Center. Dudes with good ideas can come. If your convinced there ideas have a future, provide them with assistance, room and Basic infrastructure for a small Portion of the Company (5%). Just one needs to be the new Intel …:-)
