What is this smd component next to 5.8 antenna
« on: February 06, 2020, 12:01:21 am »
Hi, I have a small camera with a 5.8ghz transmitter that was not working properly (very weak signal) and trying to adjust the antenna ground, I desoldered (and lost) a component by mistake. Can anyone help me identify which component did I remove?:

As shown it is connected to the central pole of the antenna.

Thanks a lot!

Might be an inductor ... hard to really say.
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

One hint: it is not a 0 ohm resistor. I connected one and the board gets really really hot fast.

Most likely as it's unmarked a RF coupling cap. Leave it there.

Then it must be a capacitor, but the value is anyone's guess. If it is just coupling 100-1000 pF should work but if it is also for impedance matching it could be anything from a few pF's to 50 pF and critical.

I think you are correct!. I am not sure if I would be able to measure its value from a replacement I already ordered but thanks
