« on: February 21, 2016, 01:45:29 pm »
Hello People,
Its is a kind of Wired Request but I hope to get a helping hand from your side,I am Starting a Small Company in India With very limited resources at my hands right now.My main Vision is to Convert cheap petrol/Diesel based public transport Vehicles with Electric Public Commute.
To Keep the cost low I am Developing Electric Motor and Electrical Controls In House.
For my initial Steps I Do need to get my motor Control Solution Up and Running to Show Investors and Interested people to Invest in my venture.
As You already know that I am Working on my personal Budget Right Now, So The test Equipments that would be required for them are Out Of my reach.
I would be very Delight if Some of you would Mentor and Provide the necessary resources to realize the same.
Thank you all.       :phew:

Wow...
Just wow...
Or maybe the exact opposite of Wow...which is woW.
Freekin' wow.
Can't afford a digital 'scope but wants to dick around with electric cars.
Does anything add up here at all?
I gotta go out and pick up a big ol' bag of WTF?!?!?
I didn't take it apart.
I turned it on.

The only stupid question is, well, most of them...

Save a fuse...Blow an electrician.

Yes, it is better for the OP to show a detailed proposal and plan for applying funding here.

That's bad to know that people here aren't that friendly. But the thing is, people are just unable to understand the situation,Once you might get a chance to be in my shoes then You would know what the real situation is,But I Would believe that some one would surely understand the situation and might help out soon.

To clear some Doubts here I would Expand the details a bit more,
I am working in a small electronics firm, with very limited supply of cash,On which I could only afford the basics electronics components ,Like old 10Kw Motor,Microchip Development Board For ACIM,and Custom Power stage Drivers. For Troubleshooting purposes I would like to have a 4 Channel Oscilloscope to complete my project,As a matter of fact I do have a Oscilloscope at my workplace and I am unable to do my personal Drive work there,So this is the reason why I am asking people to help me complete the Project.
As you would have now understood that I am applying extra efforts to get the work done as I am publicly asking for some thing as help, This might prove mow much I am trying to get this project done.
I hope This Would clear up some air now.

You can take this for what it is worth, but when someone joins the forum and almost immediately asks for a donation of T&M equipment, especially 2 different postings, a lot of the forum members are probably going to question the validity of the plea.  I have seen, in the time I have been a member, there have been multiple cases of extreme generosity by members, including paying shipping to different countries.  Those who made a compelling enough case at the right time, read by the right member, were not only lucky but very grateful.

Granted, some were a little hard on you, but see above paragraph.  To make a general statement as to the lack of friendliness when a couple of posters were a little tough, it's not a way to make friends and influence people.  Especially when, in 1 post, the title says required.  Really?  A donation of an oscilloscope is required?  I understand that this is an international forum and customs are different in different countries, but good manners are good manners.

Everybody's poor.  Everybody's favorite nation is donation.  Nobody can afford anything.  Money is tight for the whole business.  Nobody has any cash flow or cash on hand, etc.etc.etc.
Seems to me, no matter how passionate a guy is about electronics or whatever, maybe, just maybe, if that guy can't so much as afford the simplest of simple dev boards, that guy should stick with flipping burgers for another year or two before blowing $20 he doesn't have on an electronic trinket...or even asking for somebody else to donate one of those trinkets.
WTF...
Get a real job.
I didn't take it apart.
I turned it on.

I understand that it is hard to believe on my request. As I already have specified It is for my project for EV,and I do have a very limited time to get my work finished So I just took the EEVblog as an opportunity to connect with you people and expecting help from you all,I know it might be not a great thing to do,But I got an intention that It might be a good decision for my project in this time.

Get a cheaper used analog scope, asking for a free DSO is not going to happen, and older analog scopes can handle what you need.

What kind of frequencies do you need to sample and how accurate do the test equipment need to be to control that motor?

Even a cheap low frequency USB scope will be able to cope as long as you have a computer, but a run of the mill used analog scope should suffice.

But you haven't given any details on what your needs are as far as specs of the scope.

The MCU speed shouldn't matter much for motor control, 20KHz rates are easily achievable by any scope out there, even a PC sound card or an Android sound based scope will allow you to see those signals if you use a proper voltage shifter to be on the sound input range.

Why 4 channels?

You have not give any reason why you need the 1Gs/s sampling rate and the 4 channel requirements and why should it be a DSO?

You're begging that for free ?  :-DD

Pretty sure you don't understand what you need, and its clear your intention here is purely greed.

If you really want a free scope, your chance will be bigger if you follow GreyWoolfe's advise precisely.

Put it simple, you just joined here, posting new thread just for begging a free scope, that alone has made you got near zero chance of getting sympathies , let alone a free scope.  :palm:

Yes, there are many cases here people have been given free scope with free shipping too, but you will have to hang out here and contribute sincerely for a while to learn how to earn that.

Also for the application that you have at hand a mid-end DMM will show you frequency and duty cycle.

A scope will help on signal integrity but you already have access to one.

I would think it will be hard to get $400 donation from strangers to help you to start a for profit side business, especially since you have a regular job.

You have not said why you can't save or borrow the needed money to buy the equipment or how much you have spent on the project so far.  Just mentioning "tight budget" is not cconvincing at all. Purely out of curiocity, it will be more interesting to see some pictures of what you have done so far.

Your work place has a jet plane, while you even can not afford to buy a bicycle, its not smart to beg for a free jet plane.

Normal people that is humble and not greedy in that situation, will think very hard on what to beg for, even begging for a free car is considered too much, maybe starting to beg for a bicycle or motor bike ?

I believe you clearly understand above example, don't you ?

Expecting help with a project is one thing, expecting complete strangers to just hand over test equipment to you is another.  You say you come for guidance and help-not the same thing as asking for donations from strangers without giving anyone time to get to know you.  I hate to say it, but at this point, you might as well have the moderators lock your 2 threads.  You have absolutely approached this all wrong and probably don't have a prayer of getting a donation.

You need share your plan, details of how you would go about this and more importantly a complete list of required hardware and software. There is a lot more to this than just asking for a scope.
