This is just sick. There is no need to educate potential terrorists with things like this. I mailed them if this can be removed.

Why bother? This is the perfect bomber disposal unit, and all remote too.

I like how they use a fet, so it is easier to accidentally trigger  :-DD

FETs should be banned, look hoow dangerous they are  :scared:

I should make one of those, matches my Casio F-91W watch.

Also nice that it's marked J2, it adds to the confusion when defusing the bomb.

As borderline offensive as it is... there is something about the fact that, even with a one-component circuit, they managed to design something with nearly zero chance of actually working, that made me giggle.

1V into the gate will probably release the magic smoke, with minimal external heat generated... It's a JFET - the current drawn from the 5V will barely exceed Idss...

If any potential terrorist finds this he's just going to waste his time... which is possibly a good thing?

It may be "sick", but there is no real "terrorist educational potential" in this.

Anybody, really anybody, with the slightest knowledge in electronics can make a trigger circuit for whatever purpose.

You seem to be offended by the labelling of the message as "useful for people most of us do not like or simply abhor". However, the label is just that, a label. In this case, neither the messenger not the message is a threat. It is what people do with the message that can evolve into a threat. Reading the anarchist's cookbook does not make you an anarchist, but merely a more informed person (without pinpointing a value on the information or the reader).

Those Casio watches are no good, diesel rots the plastic. I had one in the 90's it only lasted a few months and the plastic fell apart. Got a metal casio now diesel resistant to 10 meters.

No but I am often up to the elbows in the stuff, it gets every where when you have to take a fuel system down or even just bleed it.

I suspect anybody involved in any hobby that involves technology or science is on a watch list somewhere.

I figure I haven't lived if I'm not on at least five watch lists by the time I die.

They've had to turn off the beeper that they use for whenever my name and something potentially terrorist related pops up.

For my advanced digital class in college I built a digital logic bomb timer.  Turned out to be a great project, mid 90s though, different mind-set, got a 99%, I even argued for the 1%.

Not just technology.  I'll bet "they" track who is buying knitting needles, let alone ammo or K9 equipment.

I used a watch like this until the strap broke-

I don't see how that can be turned into a detonator.

That is the worst way you could possibly arrange that schematic

Nothing special here, I don't think terrorists will care anyway, this is the first transistor circuit they teach you.

just brainwash a traumatized dumb schmuck to be the trigger.

Jfets? Leave it to the pros:

That's an actual terrorist bomb trigger. Seems like a very simple circuit using the same Casio watch we are talking about. I can actually make the circuit at home (this message should put me on at least two watch lists.  O0 Make that 5 when the US government is restarted again)

Now I wonder why films always shows bomb timers made from BIG RED DIGITS counting down!

By the way, I have a big collection of big red digits in my junk collection......

Don't forget that it needs to BEEP every second. You never know if you are dealing with a (half-)blind guy who needs to affirm that the ticking of the clock really is happening.
