Here's my lovely photogenic cat, Indy! Still thinking about getting her a friend, as I do believe she gets lonely when I'm at work. Would try to get a picture of her in my lab area, but I try to keep her off my main table as much as possible.

I'm looking for a story I heard a long time ago that Ive been hoping I could nail down. I read it in a book, published in the postwar era, that was meant for an audience of Americans coming into contact with Japanese culture and customs for the first time.

Anyway, one of the stories in the little book, which I foolishly lent to a friend and never saw again, was the story of how cats came to Japan. Evidently, they had been prohibited, along with other foreign things, up until then.  When they were first allowed, each cat had to have its own human. Obviously, there was more to this than that. But I cant find the story so I could know it well to tell it to others.

I cant find anything on the net to fill in this story, which had the ring of truth to it.

Can anybody give me more information?
Well, depends on the era the story was referring to. If so, it must have been very early, as there are many cat-related stories in Japanese literature from around 850AD onwards, which are generally of a positive nature.

Can you blame him?  Look at that giant hand hovering overhead!!!  You've gotta laugh at some of those disproportionate photoshop jobs that are put together.  I think the cat is thinking "Really?  THIS is the hack image montage you're going to use?  It's all out of scale and I'm embarrassed to be here!"

Two kitten rescues from a wild cat colony. Both were very unwell, now doing fine.

I keep telling myself I can't keep them. But time passes...

I've seen this before, apparently it can happen with some breeds.

That's one of my favourite odd-eyed cats: Venus, the two-face cat

Quote from the wiki page you sent:

Quote
These so-called odd-eyed cats are white, or mostly white, with one normal eye (copper, orange, yellow, green), and one blue eye. Among dogs, complete heterochromia is seen often in the Siberian Husky and few other breeds, usually Australian Shepherd and Catahoula Leopard Dog and rarely in Shih Tzu.

So indeed it seems those cats are called "odd-eyed".
