You can use a shielded cable to connect to a banana output. It's only shielded one side, so not great.
There are some niche applications for it, sometimes involving some older equipment, like uA current sources.

We have solder seal butt connectors that you can use to connect two wires and the solder in the center melts - they work for that. But I didn't know they can repair ethernet cables! Oh and motorcycle cables too.  :-DD
