FR-301

https://hakko.com.sg/products/fr301
Me too, but from Japan, so I'll have to mod it for Canada. Now to find someone that sell tips by the pack.

I got it fairly cheap, I hope it's legit. But I agree with others tho, for what's inside these, they are overpriced by most sellers.

I have some DDR2, I wonder what's possible with that on proto-board.

Later today I'm going to buy some plastic shelves for my lab gear and junk. It will be great to get all my soldering gear together right next to the bench. And I can move some meter's/scope's/PSU off my desk. And lots more.

Some of the most useful things I've bought these past months were

1) Right-angle BNC adapter-connectors, they are usually much safer for my probes

2) Right-angle IEC adapters for power cables, they make my scopes fit into shelves and the desk much better and less strainfully

3)these new shelves

Not sure that plastic shelves and soldering gear are a great combination...

I didn't see in the tdk z20-10 datasheet if it could sink current.  I guess if that's not something you used on the 66332 then it doesn't matter.

Latest purchase is a Bambu Lab H2S.  Because the Wanhao i3 plus is a *cough* dinosaur.

Does the H2S accept unbranded (lacking NFC) filament, or have Bamboo gone full lock-in on that one?

Yes, it works fine with non-bambu filament, that's what I'm running now (polymaker)
It doesnt automatically identify the filament type so you have to select it on the touchscreen or in the app

I'm currently printing a poop chute and ramp to guide the color change poops from the rear of the printer into a container on the side.  First multi-color print, decided to give that a go as i had black and gold PLA and it was a nice test.
Definitely adds quite a bit of extra time but I'm not planning on doing multi-color stuff often so wasn't really worth getting the H2C or H2D

I'm curious what resistance values "support" temperatures above 850 degrees Celsius? I'm talking about Pt100 Ohm/0 degree resistance sensors, just like Pt50, Pt500, Pt1000. Strangely enough, the Pt200 sensor has characteristics only for 600 st. Celsjus.

What is even more fascinating is that the so-called ITS for Pt100 industrial platinum sensors typically ends at a temperature of 850 degrees Celsius, or a resistance of 390.48 Ohms...

No, i don't test batteries, i test tubes (valves). :-)
With the HP6632/66332 i could test the soviet 6S33 only with the filaments in series.

The GPIB multi-drop sounds promissing (one GPIB-address can controll multiple Z+ psus).
Somebody that wants to get rid of the 600V-version??

Best

Fake batteries (USB power to replace rechargeables in an inaccessible catflap).

Amazon must be using AI to determine shipping requirements since these came with the full UN3481 panic warning despite there being no actual batteries involved  :palm:

No thanks to the gorillas involved in shipping it, a shiny new micsig mho1 showed up on my doorstep today.

It was a banggood purchase, and I was certain I was going to be stuck in some nightmare of trying to get it replaced when it arrived, as somewhere in transit someone punched a large hole through the side of the container and the interior foam with some hard object. By some miracle it seems to have stopped less than a cm short of the scope, though, and just tore up the foam and the plastic bags the probes were packaged in, but no damage to any of the hardware. Ran it through all the basics right away, just in case, but it looks and works flawless.  :phew:

Could you let me know what your experience with these is? With 3 cats that cannot decide whether they would rather be in- or outside them catflaps use AA batteries like a camel uses water, so I also looked for a more permanent solution. However, with our flap (Sure Petcare) I could not get it to work with the very same fake batteries and the included USB supply so now I am running it from a 6V SLA battery. That works great and for far longer than the original AA's, only now I am looking for a 6V UPS-like solution so I do not have to charge the bl**dy SLA every 8 weeks. I could not find one readily available so I fear that this is going to be one of those expensive one-off projects of mine ;D

This is right up there with Adam Savage's part storage. :P
I bought six 7 drawer cabinets at Action for 16 € each.
You can rip off the top plate and stack them for a more compact layout.
So now I have everything organized and room for growth.

That's exactly the reason I got these :)
We seem to have attracted a magic cat that gets in despite not being logged into the catflap, and then pisses all over the place

Ours are Sureflap brand, and I see that the price has tripled since I bought them 7 years ago.

Edit: Tested using a powerbank since I don't yet have a USB charger in reach. Seems to work OK, and then I belatedly checked the output voltage to find it's 6.1V. It does say on the USB plug "Output 6V" but, well, it's USB. Must have some kind of boost converter in it.

So you are saying these fake batteries with the 6V USB supply do work with your catflap? I tried the same batteries (by the looks; mine came from AliExpress) and while there was a lot of clicking when a cat stuck its head into the tunnel the flap did not unlatch and the remained closed. To the cats frustration :-) That is why I resorted to using a 6V SLA battery.

Well, I guess it is because we do not have the same brand; ours is the 'Microchip cat flap connect' by Sure Petcare. I absolutely needed the app  >:D

The boot LED flashed as normal, but my cats are AWOL at the moment so haven't been able to check it triggers. If there's a lot of whining outside around dinner time it hasn't worked  ;D

I did check the current draw when the optical sensor was triggered but no cat was there, and it did suck current which was missing on idle. So that bit seems to work, at least.

Edit: Now been thoroughly tested by the cats and it certainly works. Two issues:

1. The fakes are so light they very easily pop out of the battery holder. It seems gravity plays a part in holding them in place before the lide goes on.

2. The wire prevents the lid being fitted. I guess I could make a slot for  the wire but I don't really want to be altering things in case it needs reverting.

Both issues fixed, at least temporarily, with judicious use of masking tape.  :-/O

It's so much nicer to have everything sorted and in clean containers. I've spent the last month sorting and organizing all my stuff, and dusting and cleaning a lot of it like parts, equipment, tools, storage boxes/bins, etc.

Some of the most useful thing's I've got lately were just a pack of arts and crafts paint brushes, from the dollar store. I've been brushing off everything before packing it back away.

Also I've been putting way more parts and junk, in to sandwich bags, and of course old parts baggies. And then I keep all of those in shoe boxes and other boxes from everyday shopping.

I reuse lots of food containers too, like yogurt cups, they are great.

I just got a Hakko FR-301 desoldering gun, and I can't imagine how much time I would have saved if I got that a few years ago.

Yup, I've got some cheapie paint brushes for dusting everything.

A single suitcase retails for over $100, but Adam has a deal with the manufacturer.

Organizing can take a lot of effort. It hurts to see meticulous collections where the parts will never be used.
It's a deep subject and probably deserves its own thread, easy of access vs. space, cost and effort of organizing.

In closing, I sing the praises of using nice printed labels. The Fichero brand from Action is cheap and good.
(But the included 14 x 30 mm stickers are much less useful than ordering 15 x 50 mm stickers.)
I think my local store overdid on the stocking though. It's been like this for weeks.

yeah, I recall him mentioning he didn't actually pay full price.

Certainly agree on labeling, though I'm partial to the desktop Brother ones with capacity for bigger labels and good software support.

Ordered a GENTOS DK-H001BK desk lamp from Amazon JP, about JPY8000 (USD50) shipped. I think they're supposed to retail at like 3 times that lol.

These use the Nichia Clear White NFSW757H-V1H6, they have a PFS phosphor with a spike in the reds for a little extra pizazz, I wanna see how they look in real life. This might be a really nice bedside lamp, I'll measure them when they arrive.

Those LED arms are connected with what looks like a 1/4" TRS jack, should be easy to mod the LED's if needed haha.
