Wun Hung-Lo (made an account here just to share this gem)
« on: November 24, 2014, 02:43:29 am »
Made a joke in reply to one of Dave's tweets. Lo and behold Wun Hung-Lo (yes, pretty sure they're real) has actually made a twitter account and is stalking his account.

I made an account here on the forum just to share this, enjoy!

I know dave posted some pictures of what looks like a cover letter from them, did he mention it in a video recently? I haven't been able to keep up.

That has to be a gee-up (the give-away is the customs declaration stating "broken electronics"). It seems the Norwegians share our fantastic sense of humour! Well done to whoever sent that!

I particularly liked "Assembry line".

I wonder if Dave was in on the joke? Dave? Care to comment? ;-)

The Chinese text is a bigger give-away, since it's pretty much the opposite of what the English says.

In any case Great Job, anonymous prank-maker.  :-DD

I particularly liked "Assembry line".

Jokes on them. Chinese people can say the "L" sound just fine, it's actually "R" that they have trouble with. They are apparently thinking of the Japanese, who have a sound which is half way between L and R.

Dude, Chinese people is not the preferred nomenclature!

Calling it out is the only way it will ever be fixed.

It was a reference to a film(The Big Lebowski), not a judgement on your call-out.

For what it's worth(on the call-out) different countries see different things as humour, some see as racism.
I thought it was more a clumsy, rather immature joke, not intended racism.

There's a reason that "they" don't like letting engineers meet customers!

The quality issues with many Chinese products? This is exactly what this letter did.

No, I mean't the racist bits.

I don't think it was racist. Nobody question for example the general quality of Japanese and Korean products. It was a satire about the quality of Chinese products and their English manuals as we often find them on ebay and similar sources.

It's racism, and the sooner it ends the better.

No, it's about horrible quality products and penny pinching which the majority seem to originate from China. I shouldn't have to learn Chinese to decipher documentation or operate a product that is bound for the western market. The Japanese, Taiwanese, Germans... all seem to be able to handle that no problems. Don't make it an argument over race.

Mojo Chan, saying that people of certain races are above criticism is a form of racism. You criticize the US here in any occasion but somehow conclude that a valid critic of the Chinese electronic industry must be motivated by racism. Is it a projection of your own racism and sense of superiority toward Asian people?

Greetings EEVBees:

--Again the charges of racism. As Charlie Chan, the fictional Chinese detective, used to say. "Have been expecting same" No gentle joshing is permitted.  Of course I admit that Chinese folks are just a fine a people as the rest of us, in all respects. And currently they have a damn sight better understanding of business and the profit motive than the western economies. The British used to say that if you locked all the Hong Kong merchants in a cave for several years, they would have all gotten rich by selling each other rocks. We have much to learn from them.

--It is a darn good thing that no one noticed Naz Circosta referring to some of his employees as girls, or we would be getting the sexist lecture, ad nauseum. And remember "Man who have hole in pocket feel cocky all day"

"Happy to you for desoldering, Please"
Wun Hung Lo 1948 -

Best Regards
Clear Ether
