How lazy does one need to be for this to look appealing?
Man, moving my arm back and forth for 2 minutes is such a chore.
Or even with existing electric toothbrushes: Man, holding my arm up for two minutes is soooo hard.
But it says it's 'FDA Approved' /s
I don't know why but U-shaped electric toothbrushes seem to be a popular crowdfunding item right now:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/unico-smartbrush--3
Why? Because Chinese manufacturers of these flaming piles of turd have recognized a market through these crowd-funding sites and know they can fleece idiots who don't know anything about dental care. Rather than ask their dentist, they figure they'll buy an over-priced vibrator (yes the hidden in plain site benefits) that is being sold at OUTRAGEOUSLY inflated prices when you can find the same trash already on eBay for under $40.
Not that price has anything to do with it... They shouldn't even be sold without proper testing/verification by approved dental associations in each jurisdiction (ADA/CDA, etc.) to prove efficacy, because as with all of these snake-oil type garbage health products they give users a false sense of security and lead them to forego more efficacious devices/products/techniques.
Just eBay search for "Electric 360 toothbrush" and see what comes up... It is a friggin' joke!
I guess it's kind of the same idea that the Nigerian Prince emails are full of spelling errors on purpose. They are looking for the idiots who can't tell it's a scam, so the best place to get those is on crowdfunding sites.
Well EEVblog name is at stake, i think you should go ahead and slap them...
They are making a false claim that puts the credibility of the EEVblog name at risk.
I say go for it.
Oh yeah.... One more thing, you can buy various version of this piece of sh!t online for as low as $39 already on eBay right now! And they are selling it on IndieGogo for $99 ? SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE!!!
Hmmm ... I thought exploring Alibaba, Aliexpress, Taobao or eastern world for niche stuffs, and then exploit those unaware suckers at rich worlds thru crowfunding is so yester-years.
I guess I'm moving too fast.
Takedown notice has been issued.
It's still there this morning.
ok, i realise the costs are infinitely lower ‘over there’, but who puts up the front money to engineer all this crap?
The plastic moulds, the custom metal parts etc and assembly, packaging etc all cost money.
So, they sell 200k of them, but there has to be a ‘stupid threshold’ where the margins are not worth pursuing.
Perhaps they sent one in to the EEVBlog mailbag and Dave just hasn't received or opened it yet?
But seriously, who are they kidding with that collection of 'featured in' logos? Hydraulic Press Channel? They wouldn't review it, just crush it to a pancake! Petapixel and dpreview? Perhaps it takes photos of the inside of your mouth as well...
SCARY - a race to the bottom
Got an email from IGG, it's now under review.

It's a bizarre mix, doesn't make any sense. It's not like they stole the image from somewhere, they would have made that.
Thanks to the existence of this thread, they may be able to safely claim the product has indeed been featured on this site..

...which makes me think HPC has crushed one already (didn't check), and maybe the other sites are forums that also have someone started a thread on it? "Featured in" is a pretty vague phrase after all, and just by virtue of having appeared in discussion on the site, is sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy...
That said, I can't believe how anyone with even the slightest bit of common sense could think something like this would even work. Biting a piece of silicone attached to a vibrator is not going to clean your teeth much if at all; and there's a reason why people use floss and toothbrushes with fine bristles.
Not to mention those pictures of an adult holding a giant dummy in his or her mouth like an idiotic gigantic baby looks, well, idiotic.
My favourite thing about these is the 'You can brush your teeth in just 10 seconds!' claim. Unico reckon you can do it in just 3 seconds.
So let's be generous and go for 10 seconds. Can you even pick up a toothbrush, put toothpaste on it, put it in your mouth, remove it, rinse it off and put it back down again in 10 seconds?

Unfortunately fortunately, those suckers don't have the luxury to think about that, hence so many supporters.
Just for the record. The campaign is still there and Dave's graphic is still there.
