thanks for the replys guys, i did another one, hopefully cleaner and better, ill try and do another one today.
Here's a revised version for your consideration that I think is more in keeping with what you're looking for. I used a color that kind of fits in with what you have on the website, but obviously it's not carved in stone.
Edit to add other color version since the blue looks sort of weak on its own
hey PetrosA that is pretty neat with the line!
One more variant with minor tweaks to increase legibility shown in a few colors:
superman style
Maybe the one on the left is supermannish, but the one on the right is definitely Freudian
I like the way you're thinking outside of the box, though!
shafri's ones reminds me of the caduceus
this one i title... "unfinished business"
Dave, should I assume that the no response to my last attempt means you're not interested in that idea or did you maybe miss it? I was hoping the second one was more in line with what you're after, but I don't know.
Thanks
Peter

Sorry, I sometimes miss new posts going between machines.
It's a fine logo, goes into the top of the hat.
Thanks
Dave.

I wonder if the zig-zag resistor symbol might be better as something more immediately recognisable as an electronic symbol, like a diode, or maybe a switch.

I agree with you. I did one with a diode symbol and one with both. Somehow when I look at the one with just the diode symbol it looks more like a medical company's logo than something to do with electronics. The one with both also gives more of an impression of a circuit drawing (more dynamic, I think), but it may be a bit much. What do you think?

I like the ZigZag one better!
Might have a new leader here...
Dave.
Dave said: "I like the zigzag one better!"
Here is the original zigzag plus two variations. The original maintains the breaks, sort of making both sections of text random elements of a "schematic." The second one down combines the diode with blog to create some visual flow, and sets EEV nicely off by making it just a wee bit darker than the rest (my personal favorite so far). The third combines the diode with all the text which creates a lot of flow, but I think it makes it harder to separate the text visually and it loses punch. Let me know what you think.
Nice.
I think I prefer the third one, but I know what you mean about the separation.
One thing that occurred to me with this logo design is that it is quite "wide". Whilst I like it, it may not lend itself well to things that need a square logo, like a twitter icon, various web logos etc.
Any chance of somehow rejigging this logo with a square form factor?
Thanks
Dave.
I'll see if I can come up with a complimentary square format so you'd have both.
Here are a few possibles. The smaller ones are optimized for things like favicons or the little icons used to "add to" RSS feeds, etc. which are usually about 18x18 pixels. The small one with just EEV obviously works the best at those sizes, although at 15x15 px the text becomes pretty illegible (like in the preview here), so if you need to go smaller (like the 11x11 px RSS icon on your home page) we'll have to get rid of any text. The larger ones will work from about 40x40 px (for the one with the largest lettering) and 60x60 px (for the one with the smallest lettering). I've tried to split the text up a few ways into two lines, but I haven't been happy with any of them and I think leaving just EEV will work best at small sizes.
Hmmm,
I see that PetrosA's EEV with the diode symbol overhead is the icon now showing in my Google Chrome tab.
Does this mean we have a winner?
@RayJones: I'm glad you mentioned this
I had to clear FF's cache to see it after reading your post.

No, not yet. I just thought it's better than the old one I had!

Dave it seems interesting when updating to Google Chrome 4 to 5 the logo disappears. I check back later but I have a feeling it is within WordPress code??
