Has someone a picture of a p6243 tip or the connection piout where to solder the black, white and the red wire ?
Best regards
Kai
looks like the P6245 is nearly the same, without aprox. the bias wire.
i will try it.

yes you are right, thanks to doc.xdevs.com for the hints and the Fotos of the P6245
the probe works,
white is -5V
red is +5V
whats the metall rubber thing between the contact pin and the probe pcb ?
i know it from another tek probe, there is some between.
who knows it please let me know.
added a Foto of a conductive rubber stuff thing.
Hello,
Attached picture of 4 probes I've purchased lately where my questions are about (1) how to remove the grey plastic hosting the hybrid (2) where to find replacement of this grey plastic and (3) how to remove the transparent tip plastic or grey metal housing.
Two probes as you can see have partial grey plastic broken
Another probe seems to have a bad contact inside its metal tip, sometimes it works good and sometimes no signal where I obtain the signal by pushing laterally the end tip
More generally, does these tektronix P6243 are reliable, good in performance and worth repair ?
I notice when using them the plastic grey housing will heat a bit, I guess the internal hybrids got hot hence will deteriorate or crack the plastic. No idea if this is normal, alarming and how to fix.
Thank you in advance, Albert
Yes, they tend to get warm while in use. That's normal.
I bought one with the clear plastic tip and metal insert broken, but otherwise working well. Tektronix doesn't have a replacement part number for this. Any ideas other than making my own probe tip holder insert?
Hi to all,
Received recently a batch of defective P6243 Probes. A few (with the transparent tip covers) show the aforementioned absence of tip contact, resulting in a baseline with spikes when the Scope (TDS7404B) its Probe Compensation Signal is used. The only two with black tip covers passes these square waves but their amplitudes are 5 times the value as it should be. Thus 5V instead of 1V. Probe Cal also fails. Scaling of the Probe (maximum sensitivity 20 mV/Div) and on screen Dynamic Range (+ and - 8V) are correct. Any clues?

I've the same problem with my P6245. Signal shape is also not perfect (lower slew rate and overshoot). I don't know how to remove the metal cover so didn't look inside.
