TestController already has a definition for this series LCR, so you're better off using that than anything ET provided.

ET provided software runs perfectly with a minimal learning curve, if run as Administrator ... issue that is probably related to the new security features of Win11/obsolescence of the software itself.
TC ... I had to modify the definition. The new firmware (that is newer of anything reported in this topic) identify itself as
;; ELEC,ET4410         ,1xxxxxxxxx3    ,V6.00.2423.059 V1.12.2103.008
Please note the whitespaces; seems they switched to a fixed lenght (15) for model and serial num.
Also the serial and veriosn are again switched ...

Learning curve of TC not so steep; yet steeper than pushing the software buttons that resemble the instrument keyboard.

..off-circuit it measures 0.95nF

Furna, by any chance does your unit have a switching power supply?

Nope is the very same linear transformer screwed on the side of the chassi found in previous models

Well, even tho I am a little in financial trouble presently I bited on the bullet and ordered one from the "official" (?) East Tester store on Aliexpress, it is like on the third page and has also the lowest price for the ET4410 ... at this time it's 233 Euro including shipping. Total was 173 Euro due to 20 euro coupon for the "love week" or some weird thing like that and the fact that taxes will be due on arrival.

Post some photos when you put your hands on it; maybe PCB as well.
Enjoy!

Does anyone with the ET4410, Have the ability to read the SRAM of the Display Board via jtag

Code: [Select]
mem 0x20000000 1FFFF
I've attached a copy of the SRAM from the display board from the ET4401, Based on my testing it seems that the display board is the one set to a make/model not the main board.

and based on a cursory look at the firmware in ghidra it seems to be calling the SRAM to decide what make/model it is, luckily it seems the only part that is not read/write protected is the SRAM so we may be in luck here

We had already established that it is not the board, a few pages back, with my tests on the ET4410 and 4510 (swapping boards/fronts).

Oh, sure will! And I truly hope that Martin manages to figure out how to ... upgrade the 4410 too!

I'm confused. I think your swapping tests proved, that "the identity" of the device was in the front-panel board and not the signal-board.

Yes, that's why yes :
It's not the board and by that I meant the mainboard.

I have a ET4410, ST-link and the cables ready. I am not really sure if I am well prepared also in terms of software and interface. I plan to talk to µC for quite a while now, but I have too much on my desk with higher priority. I am watching this thread, but did not receive messages on recent activities. Yesterday, I was looking for hints on open source serial sniffers for windows and hoped I would find something here. There I found fresh posts and misunderstood Martins one. Sorry. Not much success also with that other serial issue. There are such evenings.

Hi guys, I found this thread by searching the help for my broken 4091c meter. Unit is powering up but it acts like it has short at the input. Test voltages seems to be ok but U100 is running hot. I tried to contact Ruoshui and ask for the mainboad replacement but they told me even with replacing the board unit can still remain broken. Can someody help what to do? Thanks!

I don't see, how I could help here right now, but would like to ask what type of IC U100 is. A closer look at your image suggests that they removed the IC markings. Is that right?

60C isn't that hot. I can't recall seeing a chip spec'd under 85C, and I often get chips spec'd at 105C. You need to find out what is to know for sure.

Maybe its more, than 60c  but it doesnt matter. The unit is not working and just one chip is "hotter" than others. Any help about it?

My point was that the chip being hotter than others doesn't tell you anything unless you know what it's rated for and whether or not that's related to your issue. You should start your own thread in the "repair" section of this site.

Hi,

https://www.mouser.de/ProductDetail/Texas-Instruments/CD74HC4053PWR?qs=DXdcjUGny5N%252BxCpA7Ml8gA%3D%3D

This is U100, a multiplexer/switch chip.
It shouldn't get warm.
It's cheap enough to be worth a try to swap it out for a new one.

Thought it might be an Op-Amp but this ^^^ seems a better estimate considering the type of chip in the image.

Hi Mike.

In my device at the time, the ICs had not been defaced, so I was able to identify the type so accurately.

Martin,

That's even better :-+

The 4053 CMOS switch shouldn't be getting hot, so very likely it's bad. Since it appears to be connected up front to the HS BNC, this might have been subjected to an over-voltage (pre-charged Electrolytic) and failed.

Anyway, easy repair for the OP if so :-+

Yes, I see that too - I'm curious to see if that was it.
