Folks ... please don't throw stones on me ... it's impossible to read this whole thread or to search in it for the missing needle ...
I upgraded my DHO804 to the latest firmware 1.02 and now WiFi doesn't work anymore and I can't switch the switch back on in Android settings. It always switches back to off immediately. :-(
What can I do? My little WiFi dongle worked fine with the firmware before.
Any pointers to solutions (for entry- to mid-level nerds) much appreciated!
Thanks so much and have a great Sunday everyone!

Turn it off and on back again (with wifi stick already connected). Eventually try to unload and load driver module back again.

Hurray! That helped! WiFi connectivity is back again!  :-+
Thanks so much, Norbert!

Now I "just" need a way to bring back all the features I had already activated in firmware 1.01 ...
(And I don't want to make my 804 into some 9xx like TheRetroChannel did it.)

What to do? Is there some place where all the knowledge shared here in this thread has been written up in a nice, noob-friendly tutorial?

Hint: The "Enable WiFi" button in Android settings doesn't do anything.

I executed the following command: adb pull /rigol/data
but got vendor.bin with 0KB size.
any suggestion?

Try to pull only this file. BTW. Was there any error messages?

IGOR! AWESOME!!! Thanks so much for pointing me to the needle in the haystack!!
It worked flawlessly once I had the options' codes from the tool.
Totally happy now, you made my day! 🤗

Thank you for your efforts, the use of zelea2 tool can not generate 26 string number, do not know where is not right. The original string number starts with 2626 but the generated string number starts with 2526。。。

This is because the oscilloscope model has changed. The beginning of the serial number depends on the model.

So, if I understand correctly, the hardware (except for knobs and connectors that are missing) is identical in say DHO804 and DHO924? Otherwise upgrading from 70MHz to 250MHz would be in paper only, no? I'm new here and I apologize if I missed that fact in this huge thread.

So, if I understand correctly, the hardware (except for knobs and connectors that are missing) is identical in say DHO804 and DHO924?

The main PCBs are identical across both series and all models, i.e. full bandwidth and full memory capacity is available on every PCB.

The DHO900 series has the extra connector and button for the digital channels populated, and also some extra RAM next to the FPGA of which the functionality is unknown -- maybe it is not used at all. The 9xx-S models also contain an extra piggyback board with the signal generator hardware, and yet another front panel button to activate the generator.

A couple of very enterprising users have upgraded their DHO8xx to 9xx functionality, but I would not recommend it. You need to hack up your scope's front panel to accommodate the connector, need to find a solution for the missing button, and still need to make or buy the expensive external logic adapter. (It contains fast level converters to drive the differential digital inputs of the FPGA. Note that you may not feed logic signals directly to the scope's digital port!) And also, even the original DHO900 is not great as a mixed signal scope: Using the digital channels cuts the analog sampling rate in half -- which is not generous to begin with.

Many thanks for the speedy responses guys! I am hard at contemplating a DHO804 with the - lets call it budget - upgrade option to DHO824. Rookie that I am, all I have is a HDS242 from Owon and it's rather limited. Reading the scope related reviews here I'm actually surprised that it does so well.

Thanks again!

Is there any more info on the DC offset on upgrading from the base DH804 to any of the other firmware's?

Which upgrade will not induce a DC offset or harm accuracy?

You can always run self-calibration, so I don't see any problem with this.

Earlier in the thread someone posted a quite large error even after self calibration, that's why I am asking.

Never happened to me. Even if one channel is terminated (which I did internally).

This was in very early versions. In February, an update to version 00.01.02.00.02 was released, in which the displacement problem went away.

So even if i do the upgrade do DHO924 the DC accuracy will remain the same now? with 200Mhz and 50Mpts? That will be very good.

I bought the DHO804 on Black Friday with very good discount and will be shipped and arrive very soon.

Are my post being deleted?

I post that for people who already got the Extended UI compatible with the firmware 00.01.03 could download the 00.01.04 for free, also the comment from another user about the successful installing was deleted.

Are my post being deleted?

Yes, apparently so. I saw it happen once before, with the release announcement of your updated UI improvements a few days ago.

I assume a moderator took offense at the double-posting (here and in the "firmware 1.0.4" thread you created). While I can see the rationale, I think it is very bad style to just quietly delete the post without leaving a comment to document the moderation action. I was assuming that the moderator had contacted you via PM to explain, but apparently that's not the case?

But my (single) post about how the installation went smoothly is also deleted. There was no pm from a moderator

I post here also because this is the thread where we start the hacking of the oscilloscope's application so, it is rationale that the people look for news about of the development here and not necessarily in the other thread, but also, people arriving at the new firmware post could be interested too. There are a lot of different threads a couple of them don't seem to be very important.
